How can I stop WUP from trying to install twice an "Update for Office 2003 (KB907417)", which is an update for a software that has been uninstalled. It tries to install this update twice EVERY DAY at my expense....

Thank you, but it does not. I simply hides it. After restart... it will be right back where it was and MS restarts my computer every night for the next attempt...

Wow! You were running Office 2003 on Windows 11?

A wild and crazy guess - you might try @abbodi1406's office scrubber script. Perhaps it will remove pieces of Office 2003 that were not cleaned up properly, and stop the repeated update attempts.

Thank you all... it did work

Office 2003, paid for, served me well all these years. I must have installed it from the disk on more than a dozen computers. In those old days, when you bought something like Office, you actually got a real disk! There is nothing I ever needed, that it did not do... till MS decided I needed an improvement for it... office scrubber script.worked finally. Our three other computers, now also Win 11, still work fine with it. I installed LibreOffice, also only the word part, and it also seems to work just fine. I am just one of those horrible boomers who refuse to consume everything thrown at them. Like "renting" office 365 office without actually owning it... Did I mention that I do not own a "Smart"phone and only switched from 7 to 11 after the original ESU ran out ???
