it must be something i do that it gives me problems.. so far i think that windows 11 doesnt like registry defrag . thats onw of the steps i skipped and it seems its working now.. but theres is something that it is bothering me now.. when i clean flash and have to reinstall programs my memory cache gets full.. then hangs
like at idle its at 2.0 gb if i open a 2gb zip file it caches to around 8gb if i install program it goes to around 15 i have 32gb but theres a point that it gets filled up and hangs it doesnt get released have never had this on W10.

W11 even installs on i7-920 Bloomfield released in 2008. Works fine and gets latest ms updates.

I have installed over 100 Pre 2012 Laptops with Windows 11, the only ones I couldn't get working were x86 CPU's (Obviously). Everything else has worked and I put 10 on the x86 ones. The trick is to update the BIOS before you try 11 - many PC's required you to update the BIOS before using Windows 8 and as Windows 11 and 10 are based on Windows 8 it makes sense that the fixes they did for they will enable the newer OS's to work - I have installed about 12 Laptop BIOS as required (I often try without doing this step as it's only a quick job to get to the desktop). Once you have 11 installed I have come across a few where MS Updates will put the wrong drivers on and cause crashes. in these cases I'd boot to safe mode and remove the new drivers (Usually Graphics or Chipset ones), then I'd search google for people having issues with the model of Laptops and grab the drivers that fix them - often it's a older driver or even a Vista Beta driver for some ATI graphics. The Chipset drivers often aren't detected by Windows Update on some older hardware, so in this case it may be better to hunt around and see what the internet says about your particular hardware and windows 10. I have personally found if the PC can run windows 10 - it can run a modded Windows 11 too - With better results than 10 had.

ok i have had better luck lately.
i did some tests and YES w11 does run on my laptop.
there are 2 problems that i face.
1 is random that some shorcuts on desktop cant be activated i have shorcuts on both side of screen sometimes from one side wont open. i need to open explorer and navigate to desktop and click from there..

    2. for some reason from my end when . reinstalling all my programs at one point when i click on .exe it the mouse cursos changes to a loading blue circle that never stops or stops and nothing happens... cliking on anything wont do anything its like it hangs i have 32 GB of ram. have to force power off by pressing power button.
but am sure its from my end. a tweak.. because i have tried clean install and install all programs and doesnt hang. or freeze.
just need a way to fins out what causes that.. or live with it since i wont be installing more than 6-9 programs at one time..

Windows 11 is just a reskinned Windows 10 (with Microsoft applying new policy that "modern bloatwares require modern hardware to make them less noticable"). All your Windows 10 drivers should work fine in Windows 11. Creating driver backup from Windows 10 using pnputil /export-driver, then restore it in Windows 11 using pnputil /add-driver, would be a lot faster than updating driver with Windows Update or even Device Manager.

That's a useless waste of time.

All your drivers are in \ẁindows\system32\driverstore. Just point the device manager of new install to the that folder of the old installation to install all missing drivers.

Don't we need right-clicking the items one by one in Device Manager? pnputil can restore all drivers with one command tho

How much drivers a modern windows is supposed to miss 2/3? Perhaps what's the logic of pnp util? Assuming you have a Nvidia card installed by WU and perfectly working, it replaces it's driver with old one or keeps the WU driver?

Too much variables to be left to a dumb automated utility.

I am a bit late to the party
    I have a Fujitsu AH531 gen 2 i5 sandy bridge laptop.
I used Rufus to create the iso. I tried to upgrade the installation and it did not run too well. If you install from a fresh install it will run faultless. My laptop would not update windows 10 past creators as windows 10 tries upgrading a certain driver causing endless BSOD. No such problems with W11 , it runs better than W7 did .
If I known at the time I could run W11 I would have saved myself a new laptop, I upgraded my DAW interface and mixer and needed an new OS. Sandy bridge runs fine , at least I have 2 capable laptops now if one fails.

It will work on gen 2, it works on gen 1 (i3/5/7/9) intel cpus.

Afaik rufus doesn't fix updating by USB, it only fixes booting from it aka clean install.

20GB? A cleaned up W11 or Server11, takes 1.4/1.6 GB Just like Vista, Seven,W8.1, and so on...

Possibly if it sees a stupid amount of empty memory it takes advantage of it.
