Answered in the Simplix thread, either use the updatepack or use the driver manually, as described at the OP of this thread.

It worked ! ! ! Thanks so much! The Dell/Intel USB drivers for the Optiplex 7050 are a known conundrum, so it's a relief to have such a quick and easy solution. So I now have UEFI + Secure Boot. Accomplished via Win 10 bootloader and cheap graphics card supported by Win 8.1 drivers. I haven't tried UEFISeven, yet, because I still need to learn about key tools to allow a modified boot system to secure-boot in Dell's BIOS.
I am trying to installing from bootable Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate using Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 with Ryzen 3700x and it boot up Windows 7 but the keyboard and mouse don't work at all. How to to add Windows 7 USB keyboard and mouse driver slipstream with Windows 7? As Asus don't support anything from Windows 7/8. Only windows 10 and 11.
@bulldog147 for creating windows 7 image for Asus you could try offical tool ASUS EZ Installer Version 1.03.13 41.14 MB 2017/04/26 Use this tool V1.03.13 to create a Windows 7 installation file with USB 3.0 drivers preloaded. have used such tool in past with variying degree of success.
having some trouble getting keyboards to work on z890. simplix uses this driver if I'm not mistaken. flashboot usb3 driver + simplix = keyboard not working. flashboot without slipstreaming its usb3 driver + simplix (suggested by #346, in 2024) = keyboard still not working. I guess simplix has only recently switched to this driver? does anyone know what it used before?
Fairly long ago actually. Win7USB3 project which basically was a compilation of available USB3 drivers but that was way before Z890 and its usb3 hardware ids were a thing.
that's great to know, thank you. do you happen to remember how long ago, more or less? could it have been after the suggestion (aug 1st 2024) I mentioned? Also to be clear everything else I've tried with this driver slipstreamed by simplix seems to work. mouse, USB3, the CPU thunderbolt 4 port, the TB5 barlow ridge controller (at USB3 speeds I assume) and USB-C 10Gbps flash drives connected to either port of said controller. except for the keyboard, even when plugged in the same USB ports the mouse worked with. I'm a little confused lol.
Is it possible to load this driver in the setup when it asks me to load the driver? Because I used ISO with fully updated install.wim (up to 2026, it has Windows Driver Framework 1.11 included) and I integrated KB2864202 to boot.wim using NTLite. When I'm in setup, it displays one option: xHCI Compliant Host Controller. it installs correctly, but there is a difference compared to what was before KB2864202: after installing this xHCI Host Controller, another option appears: xHCI Root Hub. And every time I try to install it I get an error that it failed without details, so I can't proceed (when I try to install xHCI Host Controller for a second time, it shows the same error). I don't know how to fix this. For those wondering why I don't just integrate the drivers: My goal is different, I want to install Vista on the same hardware (with 2020 version of this driver). Unlike 7, I don't know of any tools that allow me to integrate drivers into boot.wim (vLite only does this for install.wim if I'm not mistaken, idk what about DISM, but on windows 11 it complains about unsupported OS), so I need to load this driver in setup (for many reasons I don't want to use ready modified ISOs). When I found out that I had to install KB2864202, I decided to check it out on 7, because Vista maybe has its own issues. But seems like it doesn't work on 7 too. I succeeded earlier using official Intel driver on 7, but this driver won't work on Vista obviously. i5-8250U laptop
