Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04.3 LTS running 2.6.32-33-generic kernel under 64bit (dual booted with Vista 64bit home Premium).
Linux Mint 10 Julia exclusively on a daily basis. Support runs out next year (2012) so I'll either upgrade to Mint 13 LTS (supported for 5 years) when it comes out, or switch to LMDE (supported forever?).
Same here, using the LXDE version on my laptop for nearly a year now. Hardly ever boot into Win 7 anymore.
After years of distro-hopping, I finally settled on Mint because everything just worked. That all came to a screeching halt with Mint 12. The problem is gnome 3. Team Mint has done the best they can, but gnome 3 is NOT ready for prime time. All gnome 3 distributions are very unstable on my desktop and to make it worse, my ATI/AMD video card is not properly supported. I am still using Mint 9 LTS on the laptop but the desktop is now running Scientific Linux 6.1 (I tried CentOS first but could not get the sound card to retain it configuration settings). It took some work to get SL configured the way I wanted but I love the long life cycles of Enterprise products.
Yes but I read that LMDE would eventually switch over to Gnome 3. I also read a second hand report that Team Mint is working on another desktop similar to MATE (Cinnamon?). I am sure it will all shake out in time, but it sure gets frustrating when they push out new stuff before it is ready. The more I use Scientific Linux, the more I like it. It was more work doing the initial setup but now it is very stable, performs well, and I love the fact it still uses grub legacy. Once again I can install Linux in a logical partition. Grub2 forced me to use a primary partition, limiting the number of Operating Systems I can install on my multi-boot desktop.
Got Backtrack 5 in Virtual machine, and Ubuntu 12.04 in another. Will give Fedora, Mint and Sabayon a try to see wich one will remain permanent. BT will stay just in case.
