What to do about Edge...

    If you reset, you will loose all your programs, just not your personal stuff, pictures, doc's, I would just to a inplace upgrade, google how to if you don't know how, saves all programs, puts new windows on,
    remember in about 3 weeks, new Win 10 (Creators Update) :p

    Thanks Lobo. I really appreciate it. All I wanted is Edge; but I had to go through to retrieve it. Do I have it? NO!!! :weep: I just have to wait.

    Edge is the perfect browser for my mother: still capable to render most of the website, quite empty of UI elements.

    Sorry, TL;DR. However, those are too many programs to reinstall in the last line all in the name of solving a browser issue. I would suggest to cope with it or uninstall it all together until Creators Update is released for a possible fix.

    Lobo, I d/l the new version of 10. Guess what, no dice... Everything ran great, except Edge. I checked with the registry and found four instances with the value "Microsoft Edge":

    1. Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CWindows%5CSystemApps%5CMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri\1d0baffa8046553\a01460c8
    2. Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CWindows%5CSystemApps%5CMicrosoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri\1d0baffa8046553\a01460c8

    Each one had the same names and values (8 told), three with the previous windows and three with the new version leaving two being the names as LanguageList and Microsoft Edge. Nevertheless, it still wont load up... It escapes me. :eek:

    How 'bout this: using my recovery, I'll go back to 7 and load 10 again. Can I do that??? Please let me know...

    You're already activated. Just do a reset and tell it you don't want to keep any files. Backup what you want to keep before you do that.

    I'd like to do that; but if I do I'd lose every program I have which consist of 238... Most of them cannot be replaced; unless you have away to keep the programs available? Yes??? :biggrin: Still, why can't I revert to Windows 7, keeping my programs intact and then back to Windows 10, thus allowing Edge back in???

    Is this seriously worth all this trouble just to use Edge? If your life depends on using Edge, then go right ahead. Just don't complain when half your programs don't work anymore and your system is so borked you have to do a clean reinstall anyway. But hey, at least you'll have Edge!
