I read last week that McRip is busy moving and thus the delay in updating office. I usually install Visual C++ redistributable in x86 and x64 from 2005 to 2012 (I think the 2013 version was also released last week). I think I have all the redistributables incl. their SPs. Considering the great work done on WHD and seeing that it is more client OS related, have you given a thought to adding this to WHD. I also need to know if Visual C++ 2005 version is really needed to be installed now since we are nearly at the end of 2013. I use only 2 softwares from say the mid-2000s incl. dvdshrink and subtitle workship 2.51. Should I really just now on install 2008, 2010, 2012.
When i select 'Options > Check for Windows Updates', WHD shows "Unavailable: This option is currently in progress" (Windows 8.1). It's a bug, isn't it? Please make WHD check update files in 'Download path' first, then only download update files missing. Many thanks for useful software.
Not a bug, just haven't got round to completing it.. If update checked for download, if its missing it will download. Haven't yet added check if newer by last modified/creationtime.. Nor have i done a superseded check (yet).. Server still down
Thank you, Alpha. But the following error is being returned: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. This has never happened before.
It will be back online the moment McRip decides to bring it back, not a second sooner and certainly not a second later. Point being: Best not to ask. I'm sure he gets spammed enough with that question.
Depending on a 3rd party server is the Achilles heel of this wonderful program. Frankly, McRip's server has been offline so often that I have given up on using this program. There are other programs that download directly from Microsoft servers even if they are not as feature rich or user friendly.
