abbodi, are u sure? or is the new feature of dism in windows 8? becuz yesterday ago I've integrate package for windows 7 64bit but the host os is windows 7 32bit make the install.wim error (cant installed even the integration is ok, use dism normal method for that). please correct me if I'm wrong, thx in advance.
My workstation is an old box running Win7 Pro 32bit. I integrate all updates & some drivers into install.wim for both 32bit & 64bit OS. I always boot into WinPE & run the setup (with autounattend.xml) from there. All the files are the same as the MS OS DVD except the updated install.wim & inclusion of ei.cfg file (also update boot.wim). Code: \Windows81.64\setup /unattend:UEFI-Unattend.xml \Windows81.64\setup /unattend:BIOS-Unattend.xml I'm not mixing platforms or making AIO's. I've setup my key to boot 32bit/64bit (legacy) & UEFI 64bit. No one has ever asked our company for 32bit Win8 or 8.1 install. Even crappy atom has 64bit installed...
interested, will test again... ehhh... I see u've separate UEFI and BIOS in unattend.xml, mind to share only the winpe setting in the unattend.xml? U can cover the product key by the way, just wanna know what's the different between them? thx... alphawaves, sorry if this OOT...
Well, i see that current naming scheme is clear enough, users who are using WHD through this thread had to know that it supports latest version of products That's why we are support Windows 8.1 only and not Windows 8 and as ricktendo64 pointed put, SP download list is just a bonus that can be removed it to remove the confusion
this utility keeps downloading the same updates over again. Am I missing something? Went through the settings but left everything at default because it seems normal. Working with Win7 x64 updates if that matters. Sorry if this question has been asked before.
@Alphawaves Following previous post, Is there a way with WHD to scan already downloaded updates, and download only new ones.? I have a slow connection, and when I want to check new WHD version or make a new ISO, I am faced with the problem of having that huge download each time. WHD does not seems to check if they are already into the folders. Thanks
Thanks for Office 2010 post-SP2 updates. I downloaded all 34 updates for Office 2010 post-SP2 and I get 34 EXE and 202 MSP files! I know that I should copy all MSPs into updates folder of ISO. What about XML files? are they needed at all? When you extract EXE file, you get MSP + XML (+ some TXT) files, should I include XML files or not? Regards,
I am trying to update : Windows 7 x64 I used: WHD version 5.8 on Windows 8.0 x64 If I use the option View attachment 26737 , I get the message, see below, not only to these 44 but to all update files. View attachment 26738 If I use option View attachment 26739 . There is no error messages but the installation of Windows 7 x64 failed, see below. View attachment 26740 Any suggestions on how to proceed would be helpfull, thx.
First option is to install updates on the current system (Windows 8) What updates did you integrate? some updates cause installation failure, therefore it's recommended to integrate only General+Security+Hotfix
I'm a NEWbie using WHD 5.8 and would appreciate some feedback regarding the difference between the 34 .exe files (inside the General / Hotfix / Security folders) and the 40 .msp files that were downloaded and included today inside the WHD Office 2010-x86 folder... I'm assuming that the 34 .exe files were converted to the 40 .msp files then added to the Office 2010-x86 folder... Are both needed and and when is .exe needed and when is .msp needed to effectively use WHD? Thanks for any HELP to explain this to me... OBTW, is there HELP or Instructions to use WHD for DUMMIES like me? LOL
You must have had extract MSP's selected in options before downloading, imho i would keep this selected and also delete exe after extraction. I agree i should have a details help guide. Will start on one soon..
Thanks Alphawaves... I think I used the Default WHD settings, regardless I will change them to your recommendations... You can be sure that I will READ & LEARN once you provide the HELP guide... Per your comments, I take it that the .msp files are more useful than the the .exe files when using WHD...
