You can use the download from ricktendo64s Server. It only lasts a moment after each release till it's up there, but now it works .
ATM, WHD doesn't remove the old updates, that have been superseded so you will have to manually check for which exe's are not in the new list and remove them. best to do this first before downloading the new updates and then re-extract them all in a clean folder.
So I have to download all updates because I do not know which one in new and witch one old? It does not make sense. The point of this program is to download less not downloading all the updates every time.
FYI: I just downloaded the newest v7.2 and realized that I made a mistake with this previous report about the downloads... this was my mistake and WHD is working fine. Also the update list issue is resolved. Thanks!
I've another suggestion of downloading updates from Microsoft. Use multiple pieces / connections of one file. Example: When a file have a size of 100 MB, split them in 4 parts (configurable by user who uses WHD). Download managers/accelerators use this technology too, and it works fine. Sure with Microsoft's slow servers.
The average file size for Windows 7 x64 updates is 3.79 MB. For Office 2010 x64, the average file size is 18.2 MB. They're not very big. Do you honestly think it would make a difference when you could have 5 downloads downloading at the same time capped out at nearly your maximum download speed? It might make a difference. I just don't see it happening. But that's just me.
Files who have small sizes have no affect, however there are files who are bigger than 20 mb. It's a good idea when Alphawaves can mix of them.
Installing Windows Updates using WHD seems much slower than when using WU / M$U on various Windows 8.1-x64 PC's... Is this just my imagination?
After a certain amount, the installation does tend to get slower and slower. I know KUC has the option to limit each batch install session (75 is the default) so that install does not slow much (reboot in between sessions) This is not needed for offline integration
Faced that behavior with WU likewise when updated Win 7 SP1 and Win 8 Vanilla Installs on machines with 4 GB RAM. At a certain point the process consumed the whole RAM and the machines were nearly frozen . After a long waiting time forced a reboot, afterwards it proceeded with the missing updates and completed.
