WHDownloader starts ok until you download the lists and then load them ? I think if this is the case i need to wrap the lists back up into a zip file for downloading..
Can someone pls provide a mirror? I can't download from datafilehost.com. Also ricktendo64's link on first page doesn't work.
...saucy expression, compact and terrier-like qualites of temperament! A Mexican soundwave of passion! Feel you bro, pushed the THNX button at least 10 times to support ya - Guess the thing is stuck.
No changelogs, no changes planned just fixes and improvements.. When im happy with compatibility for all users ill release as a torrent, doing away with datafile host.. Thanks..
I'm too am in agreement with this post. What attracted me to WHD was the ability to straightforwardly integrate/slipstream the latest updates into a Windows ISO and its potential to continue to improve on that front. As far as downloaders go, there's a huge pile to choose from so differentiation between this and other programs has been all but lost. In fact, I dare say there are tools out there with more features that do what WHD does (this comment is not meant to offend in anyway, btw). That being said, it is still a very good tool and I have no doubts that it will accomplish what it's meant to do and do it very well. My only question is, will you at some point create a separate program that does integration/slipstreaming very well and can use the updates downloaded with the new WHD? If the answer is yes, I will continue to watch this thread and wait for that day. If you have no plans to do this at any point, I'll move on and keep hoping someone comes up with something decent. Until then, I'll have to stick it out with doing Acronis images for each model of computer we sell and update every image on patch Tuesday as we've done for years. And when a customer brings in a computer asking for a reformat and wipe so they can give it to a grandchild or sell it, I'll have to stick to using the latest Microsoft provided disk and then running WSUS and then doing any remaining updates. (if anyone can suggest a better more efficient way, I'm all eyes and ears)
That's a good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. Since using the original WHD, I noticed that as of today, and past June's patch Tuesday, only 2 updates have been added to the list for a total of 598 instead of 596 (for May's patch Tuesday). This is for Win 7 x64 so I can't confirm anything else. There were obviously more updates this month than just 2, but it seems they weren't all added to the list. Maybe someone else can give you a better explanation of what's going on. Based on how things have been going, what I would do now is use the newer WHDownloader 0.3 to get the updates (Alpha said the coding is cleaner and improved), then use WHD v1.1.8.5 to do the integrations.
Since the list changed, I would go out on a limb here and say no it probably doesn't work anymore. I haven't tried it personally but alpha did say the list changed so common sense says no it will not work. You can always try it...if it does work the lists wont be updated so really that is of no use. Like I said I haven't tried the older version. As far why the old version is gone....ppl got demanding plus I am sure it took a lot of alpha's time. We all need to get laid every once in a while. lol Sorry, couldn't resist.
Thanks for the efforts so far and sorry to hear that many functionalities are now gone. I, too need a good alternative for this great tool. Any ideas would be much appreciated. P.S. I used to use KUC update checker for integrating updates to a live system and creating an image. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance
