Im running a few older things(they will remain nameless) and they are working fine on ltsc, it is stable enough.
Wikipedia on Adobe Flash: Status Deprecated, EOL in 2020 Consider me cutting edge, but I don't expect to come across more than perhaps maybe two websites that require Flash in the whole calendar year of 2019. And I'm fine with viewing those two sites with Google Chrome with its built in Flash support, I don't need the security nightmare of Flash to be baked into my supposedly super secure and reliable LTSB/LTSC version of Windows. Any way to disable the built in Flash? Just to be sure.
Yes Coffee Lake Works Fine With LTSC 1809, i am using i5 8400 with no tweaks on ltsc iso works perfectly fine.
I posted the full procedure to uninstall Flash on another forum. I cannot find the URL though. For now, I would suggest disabling Flash on IE and Edge, as it is difficult to bring them back once removed and having a change of mind later.
Unfortunately flash is still in use and won't disappear that fast .... do not disable it completely .
You mean the topic at askwoody? i could not find it either however, Flash lost its separate package since version 1809
Yes on askwoody. And it is true that the procedure which I posted worked until 1809. Weird enough, it seems to still work on Server 2019 where the package is separate.
Maybe some MS employee didn't like it and asked to be removed yes, server skus still have it separate, also the latest v1903 according to update.mum (although server 1903 is core only )
Need some feedback. So Gears(of war) 5 is out and supports both Windows 7/10 I tested Gears 5 on windows 7 and it runs no so optimal(gives a warning prompt before launching). I have used/tested ltsb and ltsc just about all versions here and there (I have spare drives). Without an insane amount of work; which ltsb/c version would support Gears 5 ? System is Dual xeon 5675, 24gb ram with a 980ti Any thoughts are welcome. Reading around on the steam forums some are using 2019 successfully. Going to test game out on there. Update: Posted my results in the Gaming forum.
how did you manage to install and start gears 5 on ltsc? microsoft store is telling me i don't have a usable device for it. same with xbox app
I'll throw this in here as well...though it is probably not a common problem, and probably is a problem with Asus drivers more than Windows. On LTSC 1809, using an Asus Xonar SE sound card, sound stutters (drops out for a few tenths of a second?) randomly and frequently (every 10 to 20 seconds). Using the onboard Realtek audio I don't notice it, as much anyway. No idea what causes it. I tried every conceivable thing to fix it and could not. On LTSB 1607 or the full 1903 versions it seems fine. I would prefer to run LTSB 1607, but got sick of fighting with it to install and update. It was fine before LTSC 1809 came along, but now it hangs on cumulative updates (that are already completely installed) trying to reinstall over and over and over and just hangs forever until you force shut down, rinse repeat forever.
I'd say you're definitely having a driver issue. I'm using LTSC 1809 with an old Asus M4A77D AM3 motherboard, AMD Phenom II X4 940 cpu, and X-Fi Music sound card, all 2011 and earlier hardware except for the R9 280x video card and SSD, and it works flawlessly. I can game on it all day and it's rock solid. A lot of hardware doesn't work well with LTSC 1809 if the manufacturer didn't update the drivers for certain hardware, especially sound cards, even if it works great with LTSB 2016. My X-Fi Music sound card driver had to be updated for 1809.
