Of the many start menu alternatives I've always used Start10 and I was wondering what Stardock may do for Win 11. Surely MS have got to fix what they call a "Dark Mode" to really be a Dark Mode - systemwide.
Is there a way to make the widgets work without disabling the video driver? Because after disabling the widgets work but after enabling the driver again, the widgets are gone and I get only a blank window.
I have not seen one yet and this is one of my bigger gripes. I have used "never group" forever because I have used a 43 inch 4k Monitor for work forever, grouping is not necessary and just makes for extra work. That is one of the more perplexing thing MS seems to like to do. "This is better so we disabled established an commonly used functionality, you're welcome." I wont be switching to 11 on my main workstation until 2022, I'm really hoping this is fixed by them. IMO this has to be an oversight.
If you're willing to try out something with a bit more of a learning curve than installing a third-party GUI, you can use Optimize-Offline to tweak, fix and modifiy your Windows 11 image to your hearts content. I'm using a Defender disabled install of Windows 11 for a few days now and it's 'feels' much snappier then an optimized version of W10. This post explains how to disable Microsoft.SecHealthUI (Defender) in Windows 11 using Optimize-Offline.
Doesn't appeal to me that one but I'm keen to see what Stardock and other third parties do for a replacement Start Menu. And I would like to see the return of adding toolbars, reducing Taskbar height and restoring the Quick Launch bar have always been two essential tweaks for me.
