so i selected the full installation of "BypassESU v5 AIO" and have all the prerequisites installed. Windows Update detected the March Service Stack Update and the Quality Rollup update... but not "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB4540671)" and "Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4541500)" ... when downloading these 2 KB files from MS catalog they can still be manually installed any ideas?
Quality Rollup contains both KB4540671 and KB4541500. Windows Update always offers the rollups. Here's what you should do: 1. If you download updates from Microsoft Catalog, then install the 2 updates manually. 2. If you update your PC through Windows Update, then install the Rollup.
WU won't offer the individual security fixes. If you only want those, install manually. Only rollups get offered
Windows 7 ESU There are 4 patches so far, one of which is a SSU update. You can find them via the Microsoft Update Catalog using the keywords "2020-03 windows 7". Here is a link for easy access: catalog[dot]update[dot]microsoft[dot]com/Search.aspx?q=2020-03%20windows%207
I know, that wasn't intended for bypass users just anyone looking for an easy way to search for the ESU updates on the MUC in general.
WU never will offer the msie11 cu or the security only CU, rollup only and that is all that is needed (it contains all fixes that are in the 2 separate updates). Nothing rolled back in that post. Please discuss ESU stuff in the ESU Bypass thread, all info is at the OP, including troubleshooting and usage instructions. Bypass Windows 7 Extended Security Updates Eligibility
I have been downloading and storing all the security updates since mid 2016, with a seperate folder for each year and each architecture. Besides those, I do the same for all the major ones, e.g. the sha2 sum update or the convenience rollup. Then I discovered simplix and now I am wondering if I should keep doing that. What do you think?
@akf New Microsoft Edge is not an update, it's standalone program just like Chrome cannot be integrated for Win7, you need the SHA2 support updates at least (to allow installation) as for funtionality, it would require updated system with latest or most security/quality fixes
Ah I see, thanks. I'll just hold off on installing it then unless it actually fixes a security issue or other bug.
