I am planning to do a fresh install of W7 Pro after fitting a new larger SSD and increasing the ram memory. My installation DVD is quite old and I had a lot of trouble activating last time. I tried several activators but eventually got a result with Daz's little gem. This time I would like to incorporate the Loader into my installation disc. I now find it is next to impossible to find an ISO file to burn the new DVD. I tried here chasing around from dead link to dead link and eventually gave up and Googled it. I found a software company in Turkey that downloads for free and then sends a Key if you pay for it. I ran a Virustotal scan on the download and it came back clean so I'm hoping for the best. This time, I won't misplace or delete the ISO so I have it readily accessible for the future.
You can find clean source ISOs here: Download original source ISOs: Windows 7 SP1 MSDN source ISOs (Professional & Ultimate x86 & x64) Use this tool to update it: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-with-install-wim-esd-creation.79421/#XenForo Check the loader's readme for creating an $OEM$ folder and put it in the tool its "OEM" folder or manually in the "ISO:\sources" folder.
Thanks amigo. It was Pro I was looking for. No need for Ultimate. I'll have a snoop around those links.
All MSDN RETAIL ISOs offer the same SKUs: Starter (x86), Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate, You only need to remove the ei.cfg file from the "ISO:\Sources" folder.
I'm back. Sorry to be a pain but after wasting a lot of time (literally hours) downloading ISOs from random sites only to find they don't work or the total file size seems way too large I deleted them and worked out how to get the download from here. The long list of files you posted had me fuddled for quite a while. Then I noticed the first two letters appear to indicate a language. OK. Then I see there are two options for English 64bit. One name has an "n" in it the other hasn't. Which one to choose? Maybe N for nitwit? Then the fun begins. I'm going to try to fly to the moon by flapping my wings really hard. In other words I would like to integrate the Simplix Update thing into the disc I create. That effort should keep me busy 'til Xmas at least.
I linked to a list without N editions, N editions are crippled by EU Law, they are not a feature. Download tool (tool packages will be updated in a day or two, when the new updatepack and WA addon files are available) Download ISO Put ISO in tool source folder Run "W7_x86_x64_4.0_Legacy_WIN7_Based_ISO_ESU_With_AiO.cmd" Set your desired options and wait till it's finished...
Just started the iso download, the one without the N. Internet speed here is not much above dialup so it will be a while.
"Download tool (tool packages will be updated in a day or two, when the new updatepack and WA addon files are available) Download ISO Put ISO in tool source folder Run "W7_x86_x64_4.0_Legacy_WIN7_Based_ISO_ESU_With_AiO.cmd" Set your desired options and wait till it's finished.." Download finished, just under two hours. Where do I find the tool source folder? I clicked on the ISO download to search inside and there's nothing showing inside, just a box comes up wanting me to start a burn. I was thinking I had to "remove the ei.cfg file from the "ISO:\Sources" folder." to select W7 Pro instead of Ultimate (as you suggested earlier). While waiting for the download I searched for the updatepack and WA addon file downloads but can't make heads or tails of which live links to try. They only seem to lead to other threads or parts of older threads. It might just pay me to give up the idea of an enhanced fully inclusive boot disc for my new install.
Did you also download the SiMPLiX tool from @Enthousiast's topic? Although it would be wise to wait until the package will be updated with the current SiMPLiX pack as it's the major part of the download size.
I was led to believe that there was some way to incorporate the Simplix tool and some other stuff should be added to the boot disc when I burn it. I haven't yet worked out how to get and save those extras yet. This morning I have been trying to find a free burning tool that will burn an ISO to a bootable DVD. They mostly do it to a USB stick. Rufus supposedly does but doesn't. Another I downloaded says it does but only the paid for version. As I said further back, it is getting way too complicated. I have followed several step by step explanations but the screen shots and options are not what I see on my screen so I'm not really getting anywhere. I might just play it safe and get this downloaded ISO onto a disc and try to make a better one later when I fully understand the procedure.
You were told exactly this: When doing this you get an uptodate working ISO. The SIMPLiX AiO ISO tool is not incorporated but used to get you an updated ISO, did you read the info from the mentioned tool?
I downloaded the ISO from this site. Not the one I wanted (Pro) but Ultimate. I read somewhere that by deleting ie.cfg file I could select Pro but I couldn't find anything called ie.cfg so I just went ahead and downloaded the Ultimate anyway. I haven' t yet found any "tool source folder" to "Run "W7_x86_x64_4.0_Legacy_WIN7_Based_ISO_ESU_With_AiO.cmd" and set options so I'm still lost. Sorry but I'm having to resort to Googling half the things I'm being told and by the time I've worked out what people are telling me I have forgot the question.
And if you could read what I have written............I do not know where to find the ""ISO:\Sources" folder.""
Sorry folks. I appreciate you trying to help but I think its time to admit I'm not up to your level. I'll try to find a more entry level forum for help. Best regards.
I showed you the picture where it is and where to find the ei,cfg: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-7-installation-guide.23687/page-18#post-1768731 And the mentioned tool will do all for you.
The sources directory is inside the ISO (an ISO is a container, just like a ZIP archive, and can contain many files and directories. You cannot edit an ISO without third-party tools (Enth and me are both using UltraISO, that license really pays off). However, you do not need to edit the ISO at all. Just wait until @Enthousiast has updated his tool, then go into his topic and download it. Unpack it, and the Source ISO directory will be there. https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-aio-iso-with-install-wim-esd-creation.79421/
Thanks for explaining that. Now I know why I can't find the thing shown in the image above. I can't open my ISO file to find it. I'll do some other soul destroying task while I wait for the next update and start again after downloading it. Cheers.
I have downloaded the latest (I think) MDL Win 7 Tool for SiMPLiX UpdatePack AiO ISO (with install.wim/esd/swm) Creation v4.0.22.12.14 which is a Zip. I opened it and although there is a similar layout to what is pictured above it is different. It does not contain the sources + ei.cfg + etc. that are indicated in red so I still can not follow the instructions to delete the er.cfg, whatever it is.
