It does it's job fine regardless of windows version.
I do have some refactoring in mind, and will add it to my sig "repo" for easier maintenance and discoverability (later this week).

Is there any point in using non-admin account? After applying your ToggleDefender.bat that is

no such thing as the best av.

defender sucks because it blocks things that aren't malware or viruses. can't remember the last time i had a resident av running all the time.

Defender is good just to catch activators, keygens, cracks, powerful hacking tools and alike.

And to do that it turns your shiny Ryzen in a i486 :D

Its fantastic at detecting WhyNotWin11 as malware, the scan tool for evaluating Windows 11 compatibility, that made MS's tool look like armature crap in comparison.

I'm pretty happy with Windows Defender (been using it with good results for years) but I'm not expecting miracles from it since it's built in, I take it for what it is.

I do feel rather safe using my Windows 10 machine browsing the web and downloading stuff on daily basis.

I use Firefox and uBlock Origin which gives me a little bit more security and I only download software from trusted sources.

Virus and malware wise I'm not that worried, I am more concerned about my privacy however.

Anyone can surf smart but there is a tremendous chunk of settings you have to go through and disable and shut-off after a clean install to at least stop most of the telemetry stuff.

That's your AV not defender (brain+decent browser+decent adblocker).

I used Opera since the day It was released, while people was using IE.

I never got a virus in almost 30 years, while IE people was infected more often than not, no matter the AV they used.

I have some points to share tho.. I don't have any issues with antivirus, why? My machine security does not rely on any antivirus. Coz at the end of the day, I knew that these apps will fail.

Testing on comss ru is paid by firms and is not true!
They run 4000 thousand old viruses that are irrelevant.
Look at Chinese forums testing Defender Microsoft.
Defender does not detect many viruses and trojans.

Don't believe anyone, but check it yourself (test it)
    antivirus tencent
    antivirus 360
    Microsoft Defender
Buy 2,000 common thrones and viruses on Darknet and test them.
You can get links to the old semi-annual database on Darknet for free.
China has a higher detection rate.
Also remember Microsoft Defender is a constant data leak and there is no trust in this product.
Microsoft Defender is cut out as a bug from the system :)

Testing a sample that is more than a day old is useless. Most modern malware is per-download polymorphic.

The reality is that the only way to do a real test would be to install a different AV on each system and then from different IP addresses have them run through a sequence of identical dangerous surfing. There is no dress rehearsal for these attacks, you either deal with the mutating nature of modern malware or you can't.

Less than 1% of any AV database protects you, the other 99.9% is there to pass tests.
