Sorry, maybe this is not for this topic. I'm not a big expert in this topic. But I noticed this thing. If you install updates via Windows Update, then other outdated programs cannot be installed. I linked it to certificate updates, but I'm not sure about this. This applies, for example, to Office 2003 and NET Framework 1.0. And some others that I don't remember. But if you install these programs before updating via WU, then everything works. Or if you install the update yourself with the Internet disconnected "in manual mode", then such problems do not arise. Is this just me or does it happen to others too?
I suspect that when updates are installed through WU, certificates are updated. Revoked, outdated, SHA2 requirement... And then problems arise. But this is not certain.
For me, I tested installing the leaked Windows 2000 Update from 2015 in a VM with all official updates.
