IDE SSD is masochism, they are usually expensive, outdated and small sized. Just buy mSATA ssd + mSATA/PATA adapter, not only you can use modern, large, cheap, SSDs but also you can move them (when needed) to more recent PCs using a simple (mechanical only) mSATA/SATA adapter (or even mSATA/M2)

should I try run w.11 on my hp old workstation currently tried installing W.10 LTSC and it works... half power
It will work, unless the HW is very odd/unlucky, like the poulsbo Atoms. The only problem running is that, once everything is installed, you have Win11, not something worth to be enjoyed. So while the question is academically interesting, it is practically useless.
Does Windows 11 run higher stresses on motherboard? One of my two ECS motherboard (previously XP machine) is dead after switched to Windows 11 six months (last Oct). This board has run some 15 years. Now thinking about how to dispose the PC case (300W), DDR2 RAM 2GB, HDD, , , almost none uses this kind of old hardware.
Sometimes when you cant boot from USB oder DVD on a "special device", you can usually just install Windows 10/11 to a SSD inside of another (random) PC, just to shut it off after the 1st reboot, placing the SSD back into that "special device" then. I had a MacBook from 2006 here and it wouldnt boot Windows 11 from USB, the DVD-Drive was broken, it has a 32-Bit EFI. MacBook 2,1 from 2006 (32-Bit EFI) Intel T7200 Core2Duo CPU 3GB DDR2 RAM Intel Mobile Express 945 Graphics (WDDM 1.0) 120 GB SSD So, thats what I did : Start installing Windows 11 22H2 (no TPM / no Secure Boot) on a random PC, and turn it off after the 1st reboot (or after the image got applied via script). Put the SSD with Windows 11 22H2 back into the 2006 Macbook. The installation process will now continue and the 2006 MacBook will run a (slow) 64 bit Windows 11 22H2 now. You now have an Office device for Emails, Word & Excel. Youtube is very laggy and you better not start any programs or games. ;D
It's a CPU released just 4/5 years ago and also a top of the line one, and also 16GB of ram is 2x/4x the average RAM that the average user has. Do you really thing running W11 there counts as an achievement
Device name Dell OptiPlex 755 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz 2.66 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.87 GB usable)
Lighten up. He never said it was an "achievement". If you will look at the title of this thread, it says simply "Your oldest machine running Win11".
I hope you are too intelligent to believe to what you wrote. According to this logic any machine running W11 should be included here. Assuming my only machine. maybe a 128 core Threadripper, was bought one hour ago it's still the oldest machine...
Make it a game: You're only allowed to post if your specs are somehow lower than the previous ones. We should reach the bottom, eventually.
This is exactly the point of this thread, at least for people who understand a bit of plain English and has a bit of common sense.
To old for win11. It worked afterall All those (other)are people have to much money to spend...They love you either way.
