Looks good, but.... seems it uses webRTC ? And there seems to be no way to contact them, to ask about this, unless you register first.
@Yen what do you mean Threema is cheaper than Whatsapp? Whatsapp is free... You never used whatsapp but you use Threema now. They’re both very similar with end-to-end encryption. I thought you didn’t like whatsapp etc.
I used whatsapp from the very beginning of its release. That time not many people even used it. It was free on Android the first year only... I refused to use it the day when Facebook has acquired it. There are studies.... People talked about to be interested in making holidays in Portugal via whatsapp voice telephony. The days later they got ads via their facebook account from travel agencies about offers of making holidays in Portugal... yep..end-to-end-encryption LOL... You pay at whatsapp by losing your privacy. When you create safe key pairs for encryption there needs to be a true random factor! At threema you have to randomly swipe on your touch screen to collect entropy therefore. GnuPG for instance collects entropy by moving the mouse pointer / doing some random work on the PC while collecting... Whatsapp doesn't. I have to assume there is no true random factor at key pair creation... Any key pair which is created by code alone is predictable.
Maybe voice calls on whatsapp do not have end-to-end encryption but only messages do, and therefore facebook can serve ads. Why does privacy matter anyways in all honesty? It’s not like the details are being used for identity theft, just that ads are being served. Also why does it matter to you since you do not use facebook?
Why don't use Wickr Me? All high standard encryptions plus good visual design. The one thing that may be not convenient is that all messages expire and erase after 7 days.
I'm using Wickr , lots of features, Wickr’s core crypto protocol on GitHub for public review , white paper... What do you think about it?
I ditched WhatsApp in the moment Threema was available for Android, and I convinced all my friends an relatives to use it. I can recommend it. Even our company uses Threema Work now.
