I know this... have read this whole thread, but thanks. If this tool can insert SLIC 2.1 into intel's bios. I can write it with Willem EPROM Programmer I think...
Thats been my view, until proven otherwise. To my knowledge this has not been tried, but it should maybe work...
Would be interesting. Might show if there is any boot time check of the certificates or whether it is just during the flash process. Andy
Then somebody can upload his saved bios along with the original *.BIO update. To mod it should be no problem.
I think about extreme way without programmer. But I think it any way will not work. Start flashing original bios and brick process after flash erase. if computer not start, use recovery mode. What do you think? Is it worse to waste time on it?
anmg, You can try, but I guess Intel is too clever....the signature of the mod is still invalid. I also guess a EEPROM programmer doesn't work, too. Since the mod runs at recovery mode it's worth to try. Please report.
Guys! It seems that I've found the place where Intel BIOS checks digital sign validity. I think I can patch it. But I need testers. anmg where are you? Send me email that you are ready to test patched BIOS.
Fantastic. I await with anticipation........... Does the existing BIOS have the responsibility for checking the new BIOS then, rather than the flash program?? Andy
I'm not quite sure in all details at the moment. When anmg test my mod I'll explain everything. Sorry but i'm very tired now to modify a new Intel BIOS. anmg has told me that he'll test my digital sign mod on december, 19. Let's wait. I need a little rest .
middleton, take your rest. If somebody can do it, it will be you (or Andy). I'll keep my fingers crossed. Intel is the second company that is worth to be 'cracked'. for the proof of concept, of course.
