We need someone with an EEPROM flasher. The original BIOS on the board checks the digital certificate of the new BIOS. We need to force the new BIOS on.

I did not try, but this is I was talking about a long time ago: EFI extension-emulator
It should work very good. But any way this is not our final goal :)

At the moment there is no progress on Intel bioses (EFI)....the factory tool you have informed me about via PM is all we have got. The invisiblethings labs don't have any news about published, I guess their way / code is useless now....only way is to figure how that factory tool is working and extend its compatibility....I'm afraid that's far beyond my knowledge.

I have made dump of the bios after using utility.
Phonix tool found in the dump pubkey and marker (actually 3 marker: 1 dell and 2 asus, couse I tryed to insert different slics.)
So if we compare dump of untuched bios and dump of bios with slic? will it help to find a solution?
PS My dump is not accptable due to there is several markers and I can not make clean dump without slic as the erase command seems to delete pubkey only

A dump to compare is useful yes....could you upload it? It will be better than no dump...
Is there a way to restore the bios to original state? I mean to remove all parts of the SLIC?

What I'm interested in: What about the digital signature? Is the SLIC written to the signed area?

    Therefore an experiment:

    -Intel board, bios without SLIC.
-Write SLIC into it using the factory tool-->activates.
    -Dump bios.

-restore bios to original state (remove all parts of a SLIC), or try another board (no SLIC) or at least use erase command to remove all pubkeys..as result it must not activate anymore..
-flash the dumped bios onto it
-have a look if it activates again.

This has to work.....otherwise you cannot make a mod...

    no. utilty removes only pubkey

it's useless, you'll not be able to make a clean compare.
If my dead DG41RQ will awake, I'll do all options.
For now I have posted request in intel mod thread.

After this utilty bios upgrade do not removes slic, only utility can remove pubkey. May be it'll be possible to remove it or update it in bios recovery mode.

    For now only questions....

    Hi!

Have to describe my further experiments.

I gave my mb to Service in another city.
They had a big trouble too because bios from Intel support site is specially packed and have size more than 3 Mbyte. But flash has only 8Mbit (1 Mbyte).
So I have sent them middleton's mod with the patched digital signature verification based on bios dump (1 Mbyte size). Unfortunately motherboard proved to be not fully working with this mod. Motherboard started, gives picture to the screen, but do not start to load OS and enter ?? Recovery mode (it was described by phone and I do not know if MB entered it or Jumper was switched to the respective position) started to read original bios a few minutes, and board stopped responding.
So I have to send another clean dump. This dump is programmed and reported as working. Now board are on the way to me.

    Reverting with further investigations.

Yen I think bios flasher will not accept dump for flashing as it is do not contain all necessary information (intel capsule)
    But anyway I'll try
