It seems that some things are mixed up. Gkend released a tool to insert SLIC more than 2 month ago (AMIOEMSLIC). It uses not superstatic v3. AFAIK are Zhaoliang and Gkend DIFFERENT persons! You have to open original ROM file with winhex and look for ASUSTEK string. If you don't find, you don't have to care about. Once found remember position. After modifying with Amimmwin, you will see that it's gone. You have to restore it manually (followed by nine zero bytes), or use latest version of Zhaoliang's v3 tool, provided here. Yen
Thanks for clearing that up, I assumed the tools (AMIOEMSLIC and AMI_SLIC3) were released by the same person, but apparently not. Well, now I understand that not every ROM would have that ASUSTEK string, hence why I could not find it. It is still good to be aware of the v3 tool for the future bios needs though. Thanks for the clarification!
dont work for P5B premium vista edition , bios # 604 got two (!!) SLIC tables at two different memory adresses , one Asus -the new one- and one NEC - the old one , already present in original bios !! cmos settings wrong... Tried afudos and ezupdate
Why have you tried to mod the bios even though you've got NEC SLIC already?? This tool ADDS SLIC not replace it!!!

ASUS P5B Plus Vista edition BIOS version 0801 Hi guys, ASUS has updated the BIOS for P5B Plus Vista edition to 0801. The date of the latest BIOS is July 13, 2007. I downloaded the tool indicated by Yen in this thread and tried it on the latest BIOS. I flashed my motherboard with the modded BIOS. Result: VISTA IS ACTIVATED Thanks to Zhaoliang and Yen for the wonderful tool. P.S.: I will update you guys 2 weeks later as to the stability of my PC.

Good for A8JC It works on the Notebook Asus A8JC with latest bios .211 (How i did it) 1) Grabbed latest Bios .211 2) Ran the "Automatic Mod Tool" pointing the Bios 3) lol, inserted, instead of asus.bin, the default Lenovo bios string (Avoid this) 4) saved the wrong modded bios in c: 5) Started Notebook pressing F4 to run the bios recovery flash utility. 6) Flashed the wrong bios that worked as the original 7) Installed Asus certificate and right PK for ultimate. 8) obviously Vista didn't activate. 9) Spent 10 days to wonder why.... 10) Repeated the procedure with the right Asus.bin string.. 11) Gone to the point 4 of this foul procedure and finally: Vista Activated. Good Luck
AMI Bios - Method 1 Everytime when I try to run AMI_SLIC3, there is an error massage indicating SLIC\SLIC.INI file not exist!. Am I doing something wrong? Please help me. Thanks.
you must have deleteded the SLIC.ini file redownload AMI_SLIC3 or copy text below and save as SLIC.ini Code: LENOVO ; LENOVO SLIC for OEM VISTA ASUS ; ASUS SLIC for OEM VISTA DELL ; DELL SLIC for OEM VISTA HP ; HP SLIC for OEM VISTA (32) SONY ; SONY SLIC for OEM VISTA NEC ; NEC SLIC for OEM VISTA (32) GATEWAY ; GATEWAY SLIC for OEM VISTA TOSHIBA ; TOSHIBA SLIC for OEM VISTA FUJITSU ; FUJITSU SLIC for OEM VISTA ACER ; ACER SLIC for OEM VISTA HASEE ; HASEE SLIC for OEM VISTA IBM ; IBM SLIC for OEM VISTA FOUNDER ; FOUNDER SLIC for OEM VISTA
With the original download, SLIC table was there. Even after replacing it with the table given by you, it's still indicating same massage and there are no OEM SLIC for OEM Vista to select eventhough I tried each and every OEM SLP's. Thank you very much for your reply.
I'd like to install on the notebook both Vista and the original Windows XP without using the Recovery Asus Cd which came with the A8JC. I'd like a clean Xp installation. Where i can find the right procedure to activate Xp in the same way of Vista?
Slight problem? I'm getting an error can't extract 1b module when attempting to patch a P5B-ASUS-1604.ROM Is it me? this is a fresh download I just did from asus.com. Thanks for any input. Of course if you've already modded this bios "generic p5b" that's what I really need after all.. hehe.
