Why w7 RTM had 16385 then? There are a lot of inconsistencies so it's only guessing..besides of that they skipped w9 and kernel 7,8,9, lool
That's the purpose of the delta, Yen, the RTM main no. is fixed(multiple of 16 and 100), e.g. RTM of win7 is 7600, so when the 1st sign-off build comes out, it might not be able to pass the sign-off test-runs, and need to have another candidate for sign-off, but the 2nd(or the 3rd, 4th, etc, etc) must also have the RTM build no, 7600, so, that's where the delta comes into play: the 1st candidate has the delta 16384, if it fails, then the 2nd candidate is still 7600, but has a delta of higher number, in win7's case, 16385, and so on, until a candidate passes the sign-off test-runs, and will be signed-off as the RTM.
Regardless to what he said, Microsoft must finalize the rtm before 29 July, and about this i think that at least 2 week before will be signed-off rtm.
I Find it funny how you deny peoples theory's right away do you work for Microsoft Paul currently? how would you know what build will be released it seems you're relying on some Asians theory that was done so long ago that those rules probably don't even apply anymore but the build will not be 10400/10800 not to mention sign off will be before July 29th so that's even less time, Maybe in a year it will be. (Two weeks have gone by and its only gone from 10130 to 10143...) I only live 45 minutes from the microsoft campus in seattle you want me to find out? lmaoooo
what if I worked for MS? Some probably were shocked, no? I can calm you down guys, I never worked for that company and never will since my job was to help a lot ppl as an emergency doc until retirement two years ago though. Build machine counts up every single build which is made during each one and will continue until RTM. This stage overrides all previous build numbers as Faikee explained a couple of days ago and I'm tired to repeat it again and again, go and search for it if you want to know the procedure of MS' number games. Whatever build will be called RTM definitely will have a much higher number than the build machine has ended with because final sigh-off build number is made by hand and fulfills certain criteria also discussed many times on MDL. Best would be to drive to the campus and ask about this matter and report to us. It's only 45 minutes for you so go ahead. If I wanted to do it, it would take me couple of days from my location ...
Yeah i keep denying that it would be anywhere near those high numbers in such little time.... unless they already have a build in those numbers as much as i wanna believe the divisible by 16 thing, i don't think its a thing anymore i mean does Windows 10 really need to be 14/1800 builds to fix it? the way its sitting now in the 101xx is really solid and feels really close to RTM, I can understand that maybe a service pack/ rollup update would hit build 10800... And FYI Paul i'm not in anyway attacking you personally we just have have a theory disagreement... i still you
I never try to start a flame in any forum and at least at MDL though Any kind of disagreement can be solved by either facts or simply waiting until the final things shows up. I only can report from the past measures MS practiced and there are no signs that there will be changes so far. Let us be surprised what the Redmondies gonna put out pretty soon .. agreed?
just had a conference call with BillyG and he says NO! but didn't tell me what he was saying no too, I hadn't a chance to ask a question yet. but he did offer me a free upgrade to Windows 10. What an offer!!
Don't forget, only a very few people will actually get upgraded on the 29th. MS said it will be rolled out to everybody who has reserved it in the days, weeks and months that follow the 29th. Even MS doesn't have enough bandwidth to upgrade a billion PCs all in the same day..also another reason to keep your eye on getting RTM as soon as it is leaked.
MS will not deploy new OS all on the same day for the entire world. The reason why you should register/reserve W10 is that they can load it to as many machines as possible even days before July 29. Installation probably can be done earliest on 29th. If RTM shows somewhere as a leak it will be easier for some on this planet to be one of the first to get hands on new final product. Fingers crossed Perhaps MSDN holds new files a little bit earlier than official release date so that I can upload to Jukebox
