    shakeyplace, have a look.
I'd do it in such a way:
    removed. mistake.

I wouldn't attempt that flash! never. see the values before your 4 byte length code, ED 21 95 are part of the license table the one mystery byte is missing, also looks like you did the length correction before the edit point. I'll prepare one, tell me what you think, give me a few minutes

-readgzfile says 'invalid argument' when used with XPS420-A07.exe

    Any ideas?

Yes, it's my fault, I've really done length correction in a wrong place.
I'll better remove the link to that file from my post....

Are you using true dos? or command prompt from windows? Don't try the first one from bbsc it has an error, either wait for a new one or try mine but be warned. THIS IS HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL, ther is a very good chance you may brick your motherboard and have to replace it///

Using pure DOS. Tried DOS 6.22 and Win98 boot disk both with same result. Perhaps this function was removed from the XPS bios line-up? I download A01 bios from Dell and tried that same switch and got the same error.

    Your thoughts?

perhaps, I use a win98 boot disk and it works, maybe see if other switches work such as -noreboot or -writeromfile or -classic. It won't flash the gz file but will tell us that the boot disk is working right.. maybe a longshot, maybe try extracting the hdr file and try readhdrfile or see if readromfile brings up an invalid argument...

Hey everyone, just to say that i'm also on a Dimension 9200, which i think is a rebranded XPS 410 for europe. None of the activators work for me, I am dual booting XP and 7 which i think this the problem. After any activation, after the bios the boot sequence just halts with a flashing cursor, i see others having the same problem. Anyways well done on all the progress, and if you manage to crack the Dell BIOS then i will be a happy chappy. as you were
