Heh unfortunately there are lots of Dell models with SLIC 2.0. Anything Dell sold between late 2006 through the present.

Also, Dell has several different lineups for desktops & laptops for home (Inspiron, XPS, Studio), Small Business (Vostro), and Corporate/Education (Latitude, Optiplex, Precision).

IMHO though, most of the models that Dell currently sells will receive official BIOS upgrades with 2.1 SLIC, so if you have one of those I think you are better off waiting for official BIOS (and saving shakeyplace some time). Here are the systems that will likely get SLIC 2.1 BIOS:

Hope that helps. You can install Win7 now and just re-arm activation a few times until official Dell BIOS is released for your model. That is what I am doing with my Latitude E6500.

I've tried the XPS1530 modkit made by shakey (file 1530slic.exe), after the reboot (almost 2 mins later) the system got stuck during "performing update bios" (white screen black font) And stayed so FOR ABOUT 10 MINS while i patiently waited, btw after that i switched off the note and rebooted and everything seems back to normal. The only problem is that i can't see if anything changed about the slic because the SLIC Dump Toolkit can't run on x64

Same here. Ran the updater, but after a reeboot everything was back to normal. Really appreciate all the effort put into this by shakey, andd hey!, at least it didn't bork my bios
