Anyone know how to extract a Dell bios from the ****.exe?? How to modify the ROM?

    No. I flashed the original hdr file, tested the -readgzfile parameter and it does flash, still get the rom crc32 error on the modded version, we know it will flash if we get past the rom crc32 error...

    yes it was the awdflash!!!! I got no errors, nothing about invalid windows licence, flashing graphics, then it auto rebooted!!! wow, all this for windows 7, hehehe

    just a quick question, so the mod1.bin was the final version right? you corrected the checksum so everythings good now on that one right?

    thanks again for the patience and hard work, have a cold one! lol

    Yen, I believe the checksum error may come from the end of the rom file itself, but not sure...

    IMO it wasn't about the checksum, because e.g. all Gigabyte Award bioses have an FFh byte and not the checksum of the module at its place. The test.bin from yesterday should work also..... I never go for the 8.x Awdflash tool anymore....;)

    I'm trying to reproduce the sums, but at your original I wasn't successful yet.....they way I did before doesn't work here....

    thanks Yen, well after all this, as long as this flashed ok and the new slic is in place, then I think thats just dandy! :)

    geez, modded a Dell bios, imagine that, not many people would have believed it Yen!!! good job again

    Your hdr file crc32 sums to FFFFFFFFh, like my mod, like 1525_A16.hdr, too.
    There is something wrong with the first DWORD sum...:confused:

    You need to calculate the CRC32, not the checksum 32 bit ;)
    At the 1525_A16.EXE bios the way worked well I'm able to calculate both original checksums, but not at yours....:confused:

    With 1525 the bios starts near the beginning, mine doesn't really start until until 00020000, wonder if that has anything to do with it?, before that is all FF FF FF....,
    Too bad, don't think that is it... I wonder, Flashrom reads the bios without corruption it may flash it as well. I don't think it has ever been tested and I would rather use the Dell flasher... Not real confident with the actual code in the bios not starting until 00020000, the dell flasher may ignore it while Flashrom may not? I'll have to think on that one. I have to go out for a bit, will be back soon

    OK got the 80h bytes from Dell QA09 2.1 Slic but I'm not quite sure where to drop them in the 1525_A16.HDR file ...
