Josh, I have had problems with drives that were previously used in a RAID setup (I think I made a post about it in this thread a long time ago). You need to use the drive manufacturer's utility to completely reset the drive. I found out that the RAID configuration information is still somewhere on the drive and everything needs to be zero'd. I use one of the external SATA docking stations and then run Seagate's Sea Tools or Western Digital's Data Lifeguard to zero them. Kris
Josh Was reading your previous posts, it's not clear at all to me which driver you use , what i read and downloaded is about a driver for the sil 3114, can't see how that would work with a 3112. As far as I found there is no win7 or win 2008R2 driver for this chipset. From installing freenas before and cruising their forums i know this card is known to give problems. You might consider getting one of those cheap pci sata adapters with the 3114 chipset. easy to find on ebay 20 euro or even less. Stays fake raid anyway.
thanks Tqhoang Both the bioses boot fine installing now win 2008 R2 with the sata raid one. thanks for your quick work, this is realy a great help Hope Joshe's problem got sorted out also
The drive originally wasn't used as part of the raid, it still didn't work. Tried using fedora to format but it still didn't work. I used the latest sata-link bios with the latest drivers still nothing. If anyone wants to try and help they are welcome to use teamviewer to connect to my server
I have sent the card back to Charles computers so cannot test any more but the problem happened with any hard drive I put in it. Also does anyone know if there is anywhere I can bulk buy these?
Josh - Just so you don't think we're ignoring your post...sorry but I live in the USA so other than eBay, I don't have any other online vendors. Just to clarify, were you talking about the motherboard/system or the PCI[-X] SATA card?
I was wondering if anyone in the uk knows any seller that has some decent spec new ones or cheap but good second hand. I really want to start building up a decent rack
Great find but I actually meant the rackable server not a raid card... Sorry for the misunderstanding
tqhoang, can you re-upload your modded v1.89 BIOS? Sendspace link is dead. I have an HDAMA Rev.D that I cannot get Win 2008 Server R2 to install on using any other BIOS. The stock 1.89 fails with the ACPI support error, and using any v2.1x gets rid of the error but then Windows Setup refuses to install on either of the HDDs in the system. Your modded v1.89 might be this server's last hope before I punt it out the window
The rev-G BIOS is backwards compatible (not the rev-I though). Use the latest v2.18 first and then you can experiment with the PowerNow mods.
HDAMA rev.G Welcome. Sorry for my english I have big problem witch HDAMA rev.G 2.18 bios. My processors is OPTERON 250 E4. Now I reinstalling system to win 7. But after reboot a have information of ACPI is not compatibille. I found this thread and I think to this sollution resolve my problem but a can't download bios from this site. Please send or update link on this post. HDAMAG_BIOS_2.18B_SISL5500_DSDT_OPTERON250E4.zip Best regards.
I'm away on business travel right now, but I've notified my POC regarding a few bad links. If things don't get resolved by Saturday, I'll upload the file to sendspace.com.
Ok thank's for reply. I waiting for link from You. Iff possible share this BIOS or send via e-mail ([email protected]) because my server is power off. Sorry for bugging Your time. Best regards for all.
Thanks, that's what I was afraid of... can't get this thing to work with any of the 2.18 BIOSes posted here (even the unmodded one). At this point I can only assume the SATA card is defective somehow, so it'll have to go back.
