No Worries Tqhoang! I've been doing a lot of shopping around myself. I did find after some further digging, that Win Server03 R2 seems to have an issue with AMD Powernow in general. I've found a couple of fixes that they said might work, but haven't tried them out as of yet. My other server that the bios went kind of screwy on me, I tried your bios recovery methods, but couldn't get there. Bought one of those Nano bios flash boards off EBay, and had the socket F motherboard up and running in minutes. Have both Win7 and Server 2003R2 loaded on that machine, and same issue there with Powernow. Arima bios latest version has Powernow included and functions great with Win7, but cannot get it to work with Server2003?? Strange.

    tqhoang...
many thanks for your bios revisions for my application. Have tried the bios mod on my Server 2008R2 setup and still no frequency/voltage scaling evident. Also tried the original 1.22 with just the FACP mod-no DSDT- on my Server 2003 setup, and same result. Powernow just doesn't seem to want to show up. What I will do the next day or two, swap out the 270's with a pair of 275's that I have had working well with Powernow on a revG board and your modded 218B bios. I have the 1.22 bios that you modded quite a while back for the 275's and give it shot. Maybe there is an issue with the 270 Opties that I have?? Keep you posted.

Spent the afternoon playing with this system. Loaded about 6 dif. bios onto my bootable USB and did some experimenting. First off, I installed those 275's that I had from my revG board. Re-loaded the original 1.23RE bios from Rackable and booted up. Powernow enabled in bios, and was getting the same lockups as before with the 270's. Loaded up one of your bios from a while back, 1.22 FACP-DSDT 275, and was getting random lockups. Read your return post about the Win Power Options settings, and went in and changed them from 5/95 to 50/100% min/max. Both settings were there as they should be with powernow in the bios. Rebooted with the 1.22 and ran CPUz which showed frequency at 1800mhz and voltage at 1.25, but no scaling going on?? Went back to the Win Power settings and changed to 35/95, restarted CPUz and then it showed 1000mhz/1.1v, but again no scaling. Went to my other machine with the Socket F Opty's running Win 7 Ultimate 64, and checked the Win Power Options settings, which were at 5/95 and when I run CPUz there, I get smooth scaling when I increase the load by running/opening a program. No lockups. So, back to the 275 and the Hdama-I board...changed the power options settings back to 5/95 after a re-boot and still with your 1.22 bios, I was starting to get some minor fluctuations in the voltages and the frequency, but nothing on a regular basis when I was moving windows around on the monitor. However when I initiated a download-heavier load on the cpu's, I would get a lockup, the last time the voltage spiked to 1.3 and then froze. This happened about 4-5 times after rebooting, so my guess would be still something in the bios that doesn't seem to jive right with the cpu's when Powernow is active on the machine, or possibly some bad VRM's on the board? This same bios-1.22 without the DSDT's for the 275's I had running on this same board flawlessly for about 3 months-just no powernow available for cost savings while running 24/7. Worst case scenario, I'll put the revG board in this machine with the 218B bios and not have to worry about it anymore.
Sorry for my BOOK here TQ, but this pretty much sums up my afternoon. I welcome your thoughts.

It appears as though some Arima boards just have bad VRM's or something. IIRC some users had problems with mixed speeds/voltages of RAM and trying to use the PowerNow.

Oddly enough from previous user feedback, I thought the HDAMA-I was solid with the PowerNow and the HDAMA-G was hit or miss.

Only thing left to try is perhaps the 1.12 BIOS with FACP-DSDT 270? I'll have to make one of those for you though.

I think somewhere in all of this I am missing something. I have a revision B HDAMA board, will any of these bios flashes work with my system? Trying to get this board all updated and prepped for a windows server 2k8 install.

I believe that the HDAMA-G BIOS is backwards compatible with the rev-E and earlier. I seem to recall that someone tried it on there.

Please be prepared for the worst case in case in case I'm wrong. Definitely just use the BIOS'es without my PowerNow mods, since these old boards probably don't have very good VRM's on them.

    RIOWORKS HDAMA I BIOS Updates

Hi, I have just got a RIOWORKS HDAMA I system and and have XP running but wish to update to Server 2008 R2 and need the BIOS updates. None of the links seem to work any more so I am hoping you will send me the .ZIP files:

    HDAMA-I BIOS v1.23
    HDAMA-I BIOS v1.23 + Silicon Image 3114 ROM v5.5.0.0

I can host all the files free of change if you wish.

    Regards, Ray

RIOWORKS HDAMA I BIOS Update with 2008 R2 NUMA support

Thank you for the link I have now managed to install 2008 x64 R2 and it's running OK. There are 2 issues I would like to fix:
    1) NUMA support - there is no ACPI SRAT table when I use the 1.23 BIOS, but with the 1.22 there is. Is there a BIOS I can use with 2008 R2 that has this? When I enable this it gets marked as enabled, but having saved the settings when I restart the system and check it's disabled. I have NUMA wothing with the 1.22 BIOS on 32-bit XP SP3.
    2) Is there a 2008 x64 R2 VGA Driver for the Rage XL PCI that allows 1280 x 1024 to be used? The screen flickers with the 2008 R2 default VGA driver when I select more than 1024 x 800. Thus far I have only found a 32-bit XP one.

    1. I can only suggest that you go back to the HDAMA-I BIOS v1.22 with my ACPI FACP fix (the optional DSDT mods are processor-specific and it appears that YMMV depending on the quality of the VRM's on your board).

    2. No clue on the driver...maybe see if you can install the legacy x64 Catalyst 9.7 driver manually?

    1. Thank for the BIOS pointer. I have installed the HDAMAI_122_SATARAID5500_FACP.rom BIOS and both 2008 R2 x64 SP1 and XP x32 SP3 are running with NUMA working on both. To me this seems the most flexible setup as XP does not work with the V1.23 BIOS.

    2. Thus far I have not managed to get the XP/2003 x64 VGA driver to install, when I try it fails and I get the following reported in setupapi.dev.log:
    dvi: Class installer: Enter 09:18:01.275
    inf: Opened PNF: 'C:\Windows\INF\oem4.inf' ([strings])
    !!! dvi: Class installer: failed(0xe000022d)!
!!! dvi: Error 0xe000022d: The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows.
    dvi: {DIF_ALLOW_INSTALL - exit(0xe000022d)} 09:18:01.291
    ndv: Device install status=0xe000022d
and thus far I have not figured out why. I can't see anything in the .INF file that could cause this.

    3) I have released SIV V4.24 (http rh-software.com) which has support for HDAMA ADM1026 sensor reporting. This works well on my Rev I board and it would be good to know if it works on Rev G boards. I suspect sensor reporting may have issues on HDAMB boards and will fix this if someone sends me the SIV save files from one.

You are very lucky that you didn't trash your motherboard by flashing the wrong BIOS on there.
I believe that HDAMA rev{A-G} all use the same BIOS and the latest for that series is the v2.18 beta.
The HDAMA rev I model has a separate BIOS and the latest is v1.22 and v1.23 (some don't like the PowerNow implementation in v1.23 and prefer my mod on v1.22).

With all that said, go to the first post of this thread. I have a big zip file with all my BIOS mods for the various Arima motherboards. If you have any questions, just ask.

Provided you have used my modified HDAMA-I BIOS'es with either the latest Silicon Image SATA-RAID or SATA-LINK ROM's, it should be a valid boot target in your BIOS. Do you have the boot priority to boot the SATA controller before the internal PATA IDE hard drives?

Hi all, I am really sorry for this post, I am sure you are getting tired of re-posting and rehashing the same thing - but I just wanted a little hand-holding and clarification before I suggested to a friend of mine how to proceed.

I acquired 20 or 30 boards a few years back - most of the were Tyan Tigers - one of them was an AccelerTech ATO2161A Dual AMD Opteron board - Rev 'D' with 4 SATA ports. It has 2 x AMD Opteron 244's on it (Model OSA244CEP5AL - Ser. #'s CAAJC0324RPMW and 9848057F30023).

A friend of mine needed to upgrade his current machine (he needed something that supported the SSE2 instruction set). I had this board laying around, so I gave it to him for him to use - if he were able. My friend has purchased the memory, PS, 2 x 248's, etc for the board, and is attempting to install Windows 7 on it, but is running into the following error:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.
    Technical information:
    *** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x0000000000000017, 0x00000000000026, 0x000000000000000, 0x000000000000000)

From my searching on the internet, I ran across this thread, and from what I have gleaned from it, one of bios updates listed in this thread may rectify this issue?

I would love to see my friend get this board working (as I would hate to see his time and money go to waste) - but at the same time I would also hate to see him throw good money after bad.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

    -Brian

I believe you can safely flash the HDAMA-revG BIOS 2.18. I have a CD ISO image that is bootable in my first post. Make sure you pick one with either the updated SATA-RAID or SATA-LINK ROM.
