i have set the cd/dvd drive as 1st boot device and switched off hdd booting and the files r the hdamai bat and rom files with phlash16.exe
Let's concentrate on one method for now...the floppy method. 1. You've created the bootable driver-free floppy right? 2. Copy the phlash16.exe to the floppy. 3. Assuming you're using my HDAMAI_CD.IMA file...copy one pair of the BIOS & corresponding batch script to the floppy. HDMAI123.ROM and HDMAI123.BAT (Original BIOS v1.23) HI123R55.ROM and HI123R55.BAT (BIOS v1.23 + Silicon Image 3114 SATA-RAID BIOS v5.5.0.0) HI123L55.ROM and HI123L55.BAT (BIOS v1.23 + Silicon Image 3114 SATA-LINK BIOS v5.5.0.0) 4. Boot the floppy disk (press enter to skip the date & time prompts). 5. Type the batch script that you want to run. Ex: "HDMAI123", "HI123R55", or "HI123L55" (without the quotes) 6. If you get an error...state *exactly* what the error is.
Hi Guys! I seem to have been reading and reading but not get anywhere. I am sorry if this is going over old ground but would appriciate your input. I have a rackable systems HDAMA-G 250, sil3114. I have updated the BIOS as per the very start of this Thread so, 2.18b sil 5.5.0.0. I was trying Vail and recently got a cheap version of WHS 2011 which I would very much like to load on however it will only see an IDE drive when setting windows up. The BIOS see's my SATA connected HDD but WHS doesnt. It does say "Load Drivers" which i have tried to find on the www without any luck. Have I done something wrong? Is it that I just havent found the right driver? Is it a simple fix or is it that the hardware wont let me even if i tried? would be very grateful for any feedback on the subject. I am still learning regarding PC's but enjoying it as I go. Also, anyone ever water cooled one of these systems? they are so loud! Thanks and best regards. Nano
Thanks tqhoang. The I obviously missed these ones. I Will give them a shot and report back. wont be until tomorrow now though as i dont want to wake up the whole house turning it on Thanks very much for your help.
hi i have rebuilt the floopy diskette to make sure i have done it correct i typed in the string you have listed about for the right files and did not put the quotes and it said command or filename not recognized so i typed in phlash16.exe and it went to the flash bios screen and come up with a error saying phoenix phlash16 error file open failed on a:\bios.wph press any key to exit so i pressed any key to exit now it says a:\> so not sure what to do next also tried to load windows again and it come up with bootmgr missing i have a fully formated hdd so it has nothing on it
Sorry, I had an extra character in the original BIOS v1.23 batch script name above. It should be "HDMAI123". If you still can't get it right, then just update the BIOS it manually. Ex: phlash16 HDMAI123.ROM /mode=3 /c
hi i have got alot better result today but now it says cannot flash if memory managers (e.g. HIMEM) present how do i get around this
Good Evening! Just thought I would report back regarding the drivers from Page 1 here. The signed version worked! I have just done a full installation of WHS 2011 and am very pleased! Now im going to play with the software, and im sure find more trouble. Thanks you for your help! best regards Nano
ok i finally got it to flash the bios i will now try and install a os boooo all i am getting now when trying to install is operating system not found or bootmgr not found
Has anyone got the SataLink5 drivers for Windows 2008, the SataRaid5 drivers don't seem to work with it.
I did try them but it didn't see any drives after I loaded the drivers during install. I'm using Windows 2008 R2 if that makes any difference.
My only suggestion is to make sure you have an IDE/PATA CD/DVD drive and not a SATA one. Also burn your ISO images using DAO (Disc At Once). Recommend the free ImgBurn tool.
Then you might need to update the INF file and turn off driver signature enforcement (not sure if that's a one-time thing or not).
I got the SiI 3114 64-bit Windows BASE Driver for Windows 7 working, think first time I tried I downloaded the Raid Driver in error.
