So the stock 3114 SATALink driver from Silicon Image works w/o any mods or driver-signing-disabling?

Seems to, I loaded the driver during the install process for Windows 2008 and was then able to see the hard drives, didn't bring up any error messages.

Do you know if the dvd drive is working ok? Have you tried swapping in another drive.

Just make sure you're using decent brand media like Verbatim...try to stay away from generic media or even Memorex.

Sorry but my only other suggestion is to check your IDE cable position and jumper setting on the drive. Other people haven't had any trouble booting from a PATA CD/DVD drive.

    Power requirement

    Hello everyone.

This is not a question but the bios but I can't find any other active forums for this motherboard so I thought I would try asking my question here.

I'm trying to determine the best power supply to use from my system using HDAMA with 2 Opteron 270s and 8GB of PC3200 ECC ram.

I can find the power requirement for the CPU, memory, controller, and drives but not the motherboard it's self.

Does anyone know what the power requirement are?

    Thanks.

No, but I'm using an Antec 650W with the following:
    HDAMB
    2 x Opteron 280
    4GB PC3200 ECC Registered
    ATI Radeon 3850 512MB AGP
    3 x 7200 RPM hard drives
    3 x Optical drives (Optiarc BD-RW, Optiarc DVD-RW, Plextor CD-RW)

/wejp.k. vu/projects/ howto_cnq_athlon_64_x2 but had no luck and not the same values for your settings
    thank you :)

    awett,

Right now I'm matching what the Linux kernel is doing with respect to the injected PSS states. Please try a recent Fedora LiveCD and let me know if it runs stable on your box. I want to do that first in case I messed something up with the Opteron 285 (OSA285FAA6CB) ACPI _PSS objects.

In dmesg, you should be able to get the following output from the powernow-k8 module. If it's something different, please let me know too.
    Code:
powernow-k8: Found 2 Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 285 processors (4 cpu cores) (version 2.20.00)
    [ 1.276887] powernow-k8: 0 : fid 0x12 (2600 MHz), vid 0x8
    [ 1.276889] powernow-k8: 1 : fid 0x10 (2400 MHz), vid 0xa
    [ 1.276891] powernow-k8: 2 : fid 0xe (2200 MHz), vid 0xc
    [ 1.276893] powernow-k8: 3 : fid 0xc (2000 MHz), vid 0xe
    [ 1.276894] powernow-k8: 4 : fid 0xa (1800 MHz), vid 0x10
    [ 1.276896] powernow-k8: 5 : fid 0x2 (1000 MHz), vid 0x12
    [ 1.276997] powernow-k8: 0 : fid 0x12 (2600 MHz), vid 0x8
    [ 1.276999] powernow-k8: 1 : fid 0x10 (2400 MHz), vid 0xa
    [ 1.277001] powernow-k8: 2 : fid 0xe (2200 MHz), vid 0xc
    [ 1.277003] powernow-k8: 3 : fid 0xc (2000 MHz), vid 0xe
    [ 1.277004] powernow-k8: 4 : fid 0xa (1800 MHz), vid 0x10
    [ 1.277006] powernow-k8: 5 : fid 0x2 (1000 MHz), vid 0x12

    Which maps to:
    Code:
    2600 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2400 MHz @ 1300 mV
    2200 MHz @ 1250 mV
    2000 MHz @ 1200 mV
    1800 MHz @ 1150 mV
    1000 MHz @ 1100 mV

Feb 9 01:02:28 andre-desktop kernel: [Firmware Bug]: powernow-k8: Try again with latest BIOS
the same as my linux mint debian 64 bit
i also know that rm clock with win xp and win 7 only run stable with
    2600 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2400 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2200 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2000 MHz @ 1350 mV
    1800 MHz @ 1300 mV

All - Damn, I just saw that I had a bug in my Opteron 285 _PSS table. I had the max p-state set for only 2400MHz instead of 2600MHz. I'll have to fix this and update my old BIOS mods with that when I get a chance.

@awett - I doubt my bug was was causing your lockup though. I'm a little confused by your post since it wasn't clear which DSDT you were running for the first dmesg output (stock DSDT, my initial DSDT mod, other generated one).

Regardless, you're absolutely sure this is what you want right? It'll take me a few days to find the spare time to compute the values, so you get one shot.
    2600 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2400 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2200 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2000 MHz @ 1350 mV
    1800 MHz @ 1300 mV
    1000 MHz @ 1300 mV

i take a look at my win rmclock config the boot message i posted was copyed from a boot with the dsdt i attached to that post the dsdt is moded by my self in the past in attachmend is my rm clock and there is to say that my bios hardware monitor doesn 't allow the vcore to be chanced in greater values than from 1350-1300 mv without locking up the machine

    awett,

Had some spare time, so here you go. Let me know how it goes.

I fixed the original DSDT with the stock Opteron 285 _PSS objects and created a separate "Opteron 285 rmclock" version...I ended up using the voltages from your RMClock screen capture though.
    2600 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2400 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2200 MHz @ 1350 mV
    2000 MHz @ 1350 mV
    1800 MHz @ 1325 mV
    1000 MHz @ 1300 mV
