Great idea! Let me have a look on the net, shouldn`t take much time to get one. Did you ever measure the difference in watts when in idle, powernow vs non-pn?
Glad that Win7 at least works for you as it does for me. Maybe I should try to load WinXP on one of my boxes here and see if I can figure out what's wrong. If you win the Opteron 275's, post back here with the Fedora PowerNow fid/vid's and I'll build a BIOS for those.
Yiha! That`d be great! Right now both machines are working fine. If i encounter any problems i`ll post it here of course ;-) What kind of videocard do you have in your HDAMB? I`m trying to figure out what to put in these ones to have a smooth internet experience, haha, even flash is a problem with the onboard XL Rage.... About the xp-troubles: if i disable xp to restart after crashing while booting, maybe i can find a bit more info. I`ll see if i can get to it in the next few days (not easy with footbal on tvl the whole day, and i`m not even that big a fan). Anyway, great things are working here, keep it up!
So for your XP box, did you just go back to my previous BIOS w/o the ACPI DSDT table mods? This doesn't help you since the HDAMA are server boards and the HDAMB are workstation boards that support AGP. - 2 x NVIDIA 7600GT AGP with 256MB - 1 ATI HD 3850 AGP with 512MB - 1 ATI HD 4650 AGP with 1GB (got this to support Flash 10.1)
Yup, going back worked. Btw: the xp machine is working rockstable at 2400MHz / 1.275 Volts. (default is 2.4GHz / 1.35) If anyone`s interested: set xp powermanagement to "always on", then set rmclock to above settings. On top of that: under "advanced cpu settings" choose by setting the "ACPI power states settings" to desktop settings, uma graphics. Power goes from 135 to 95 in idle this way. Neat... HDAMB has agp support? Wish they were the ones i bought for 25 euro`s each...;-)
Hello all, i found the thread by searching through google. I am stuck with to server that have the HDAMA Motherboard with the SI3114 Sata Controller on which i want to install Windows Server 2008. Now i am not very hardware savy so im not sure which revision (Of which there some as i understand) of the board I have. How can I check this? Also if i do not have a revision G or I board, how big are the chances to get a BIOS for my Revision? To explain my problem in Detail: I have the Bios Version 2.18B which seems to be fine so far. Windows 2008 does boot. But my onboard raid controller has the wrong Bios version. (5.0.0.54 i think). So Windows does not recognize my SATA Drives, even if i load the drivers. As i understand this is an issue of the SATA Bios. But as far as i understand i can flash this only including the whole bios ?
No it was not pre-loaded with 2.18B. A co-worker provided it and told me i have to do this BIOS Update for Windows Server 2008. But unfortunatly he is not availible anymore. The Bios Update worked fine for me. But no SATA. I saw this upgraded Bios'es but im not sure if i have the Revision G (to be honest i dont know which revision i have) mainboard. Edit1: I checked some other Bios updates and found some with a "g" inside the filename so i took a shoot and installed the Bios tqhoang provided. Boots so far for me. I am excited if he will now accepts the drivers. But so far thank you very much. Edit2: Unfortunately Windows Server 2008 stilll not accepts the drivers.. now im lost :-(
Hi Guys im looking to buy one of these eBay item no250563294782 as i cant post links im too new sorry had to remove it. we want to run it as a DC on a VLAN but we want S2008 R2 on it. I have read this thread a few times it is so big now where do i even start. Which BIOS update do i need to run and does anyone have a direct link to save me testing all the links on here. Sorry to repeat asking for the info and being lazy not testing all the links but it look to be a mine field and I will only have approx 3 days to deploy this server when it eventualy gets ordered by the ordering dept.
Which drivers are you using? Have you tried the ones directly from Silicon Image? mterbekke - Can you share the drivers that you're using with Windows 7? Are they non-RAID or RAID?
Hi guys, The drivers i`m using: i couldn`t get W7 installed on sata, so i had to go back to Pata. Same goes for the networkcards. You can manually add the drivers for the networkcards after completing the installation. After that W7 automatically installs/updates the SATA drivers(windowsupdate) ,they work from there but i didn`t check to see if RAID also works fine. What you should do: Check with user MG11 (see page 19): he got it working a few days ago! I`ve just send him a PM to place a link on this thread if he can. If there`s anything else.... Goodluck!
You could extract the updated drivers + INF from the Windows folder. Go to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and sort it by the date. The Silicon Image SIL3114 driver should be one of the latest ones. Also could you post the hardware ID's from the Device Manager->Details tab?
after try nr 2: (post didn`t register?!) once more the inf: email me at PMterBekke<monkeytail>Home.nl Hardware ID`s: PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3114&SUBSYS_61141095&REV_02 PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3114&SUBSYS_61141095 PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3114&CC_010400 PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3114&CC_0104
Having a similar issue, here's my original thread:- Arima Dual AMD Opteron 2U Rackmount Server Installation Problem Hello, Newbie here. Just brought an Arima Dual AMD Opteron 2U Rackmount Server with the Phoenix Server bios HDAMA ver 2.13 from Charles Computer on Ebay. Want to use it for a virtual machine lab so am looking to use either Windows 7 or XP as its host. Having real issues trying to get the machine to recognise my usb stick and dvd rom so I can start to install operating systems. The boot menu shows nothing below 'Removable Devices' even thought the motherboard is powering up any usb device. Is there any one out there that's familiar with this server/bios or has had similar issues. Anyone care to pitch in with some advance?
Hey, don't forget to let me know if you need a specific BIOS for the Opteron 275's. Just remember that if you boot up with the BIOS with the ACPI DSDT mod for the Opteron 250 E4's, Windows might crash once it tries to do the CPU scaling. You should revert to my original 2.18 BIOS mod without the ACPI DSDT mod until I have the chance to build you the one for the Opteron 275.
