barry no ones too blame m8 i tried myself having success at the 0802 and 0804 then when the 0904 came out i used the same method thats worked for me for 2 previuos bios,s mine resulted in a brick same with another lad i know using a slightly different method only thing i noticed that my back lcd poster was posting searching for usb im wondering if you stuck a usb stick in with a bios on it if the crash free bios would kick in and recover it i never tried m8 as my mobo went straight into the shop for a replacment lol just tell who eva ye had it off it stopped working dont mention you flashed the bios chances of them finding out are slim as mine was returned to asus and has been replaced
Nice to know it's not just me I've tried all sorts of things to recover, 1 stick in each slot but no go! Can't get into the BIOS to recover as it hangs the system. If I press theTAB key quickly sometimes the boot screen shows but says about 131,000kb for RAM (128mb) on a 1 gig stick with 0K available! Errors on the LCD range from DET RAM, COUNTMEM and USB INIT. I have no USB stuff plugged in! I flashed 0802 in previously but could't get Vista activated so found a retail copy and made an ASUS OEM version to try, but the bricked mobo put an end to that! Waiting an RMA now! This BIOS should be REMOVED from this thread I think!
Asus crash free bios3 just a myth? Just for my interest: Have you tried to unplug power cord about one minute and then tried to recover from USB pen drive with original bios on it, and ASUS CD and floppy with bios on it? And all the three methods failed to recover??? I almost can't believe that! I'll have a look at this bios..... Yen
