vaio a117s i have the same issue with my sony vaio a117s i did bios update in windows 7 and as the program says it cannot flash the same bios again i started digging. opened the biosflash exe and found this flashprogram in it which i started from elevated dos prompt.. flash went fine, so the program told me, but on reboot it fails to load the bios. i used the same bios flash file as i did before so that cannot be the failure. to make a long story short. how to recover the vaio ? well it seems its looking for a file on either the harddrive or the cd-rom. i dont have original cd that came with the laptop, so i cant tell if these will work. i tried recovery with ami bios recover. it doesnt seem to read usb drive. so now im gonna try with a lot of renamed bios files on a cd(rewritable would be nice to use in this case i guess), to see what happens. anyone got any ideas how to recover the apparently bad bios ?

About HP DV7! I restored my DV7-1173er! Some strange moments: in HP package we can see files: 30F3F2C.FD 30F4F2C0.FD 30F4F2C1.FD we must rename 30F4F2C0.FD to 30F3.BIN then save it to USB flash. 30F3F2C.FD is not suted bios! Step by step: 1. Formating USB flash in FAT 2. Copy to flash 30F4F2C0.FD 3. Open CMD and rename 30F4F2C0.FD to 30F3.BIN 4. Unplug notebook from mains, remove battery 5. Push and hold "Win" + "B" then plug mains and push "ON" 6. Wait a minute. Notebook must "BEEP" every two seconds. 7. Enjoy! With best wishes, Eugene.
Follow-up on the P-7805U FX recovery instructions! Thanks so much for them.. The WINCRIS tool does NOT work properly in Windows 7 x64. It appears to work (as long as you run as administrator it won't complain), but the laptop won't start the recovery process off of the wincris-formatted flash drive, leaving you to think you've done something wrong or your laptop is irreparable. Can't say for Win7 x86, but I booted into Windows XP (x86) and the resulting wincris-formatted Flash drive was recognized without problems.
First post here and have searched and searched the forums for a resolution to my bricked HP Pavilion. The bezel says DV2000, but the sticker on the bottom says DV2700 and then finally DV2915NR. At any rate I have tried all 4 of the Phoenix BIOS Recovery methods and all result the same. VERY LOUD BEEPS and in the end the same result the book will not boot, black screen with brief HD activity at boot, a blink and steady power light. History, tried flashing to a 2.1 slic bios with winphlash and the flash went without a hitch. howevver on restart black screeen. I have a usb floopy and that is what I have been trying and I can get it to read the floppy and the loud beeps are almost syned with the floppy reads. Please help people I need to getthis book back up. Thanks!
Hey everybody. I have a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and I can't use MAKEBOOT.exe for my USB flash drive. How do I go about doing this?
The easiest way is to install a virtual machine of 32 bit OS (ex - windows XP) in, for example Virtual Box (however I'm ot sure if it handles USB devices properly) or VMWare, and run MAKEBOOt within windows XP... Or make a bootable windows XP CD/USB...
