just a thought... the original post in this sticky is 7 years old... it was designed to be an easy solution for getting mod tools... now.. 47 pages long with significant amount of dead links it is no longer suitable for the job.
I've tried it on M4600 and I can't modify either service tag or owner tag in order to reset unknown master password. What are your experiences with this tool? It works, but I can't choose any options (like set or delete asset tag). It just put me back to root folder where is program saved. I'm doing it in DOS.
It's probably not working because there's a BIOS password set. You probably wouldn't be able to change anything with the CCTK either. Changing the Asset Tag or Owner Tag is not going to clear the password. If you're the owner just call Dell and they'll help you reset the password.
You're right. This thread is used to grab the tools right when they are posted / to post an request for an upload of a particular tool...it has no other 'job' anymore.....so we let it here....needs to be subscribed when interested...
I am looking to upgrade the bios of an HP DC7800 (slic 2.0 to 2.1 or 2.2) it seems there are no direct tools to operate upon the hp/compaq bios. (needed decryption key is unavailable?) the alternative seems to be, perhaps a senior member here 'may' be able to directly modify a dump file, if I can provide it. and it seems the intel fpt utility is the correct utility to use ... though the latest version I been able to acquire (v9.0.2.1345) does not support this platform. well ... if I am on the right path, perhaps someone might direct me to a suitable fpt version ... and if I am way off base ... I would appreciate a bit of corrective guidance! thanks in advance.
