Sorry I should have gone into more detail. I have the DATACENTER version in a VM and installed it using the Generic Key that's available by M$.
I then tried to install the Year 3 Key but it failed, giving me an slui error as if I had the wrong version of the OS.

I then realized my mistake -> It was an older VM only updated until 2021-05 !
After installing the LPP, Bypass and the latest 2024-10 Rollup, the key is now accepted !

Of course it wasn't working without at least the 2023-09 updates

 

When will Windows 8.1 NT 6.3 end?

End are 2029 for windows 8.0
And 8.1 64bits ..

And for 32bits ( 8.0 and 8.1 end are 07.2023... )

After reading all the posts on this topic, I have a question.
Is there any way to use my own local wsus server and avoid to install/configure wsus proxy.

I have several 2010r2 servers and I wish to avoid to use the proxy and reconfigure the gpo only for these servers.

Thanks! I did exactly that, but I'm still unable to get updates from our local WSUS server.

 

On wsus you need to enable esu category ... for update

 

I'm sorry but i don't have any "esu" category.

 

Guys is this thing still working? I'm going to install Windows 8.1 on my old PC so i'm wondering if Windows update still detects ESU updates for Server 2012 R2?

 

Yes. Have not really patched Windows Update, I install them manually.

Get the ESUs from the catalog (here's the release history) and they work great:

And Windows Server 2012 Standard without R2? No ESU Updates shows in WU with the WSUS. What do I forget?

 

Add windows server 2012 ( no r2 ) esu key reboot and re run search
