- You can't install updates on Windows 8.1 Client without BypassESU - Updates can fail for other reasons, check the big logs at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS
I have Windows Server 2008 R2 installed with ESU, but I can't install the .NET 4.8 security update patches after 2023. However, I can successfully install the security patches for .NET 4.8 before 2023. What settings do I need to make, or what do I need to install to resolve this issue? This has been troubling me for quite some time, thank you
For Server 2008 R2 aka Windows 7 please refer to: bypass-windows-7-extended-security-updates-eligibility.80606 This thread which we are on is for Server 2012 R2 aka Windows 8.1 (and Server 2012 aka Windows 8). My two cents. Merry Christmas.
Windows 7 32 bits end of update october 2024 ( posready 7 update ) Windows 7 64bits end of update january 2026 ( server 2008r2 update )
I installed BypassESU and it succeeded. But I don't understand how you need BypassESU to install 8.1 Embedded updates on 8.1 Client but you don't need it for 8.0 Embedded updates on 8.0 Client.
8.0 Client ended long before the concept of ESU was invented, and they never blocked it explicitly (except for Feature Pack updates) ESU block was not added to Server 2012 updates until 2023-11
about the end of windows 7 premium insurance which will last until 2026 why they added esu 4 5 6 license keys for windows posready 7 even though windows posready 7 ended in october 2024 extend until October 2027 I don't think so
Windows Server 2012 R2 does not download the last cumulative update KB5050048 (BypassESU-Blue-v2 installed)
Oops. I didn't install this update. Is this a one-time update at the beginning of the year or will I have to install it every month?
It's usually best to have the latest, especially when facing problems installing new Updates. SSUs are released irregularly, sometimes every month, sometimes after several months. You can check the Windows 8.1 Hotfix Repository Thread for when new SSUs are released (posts by adric) : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-8-1-hotfix-repository.47590/page-185#post-1851292
ESU Suppressor isn't enough to get ESU updates through WU on Server 2012 R2. After playing around a little while tonight, I discovered that you need to add a simple DWORD value in the registry in the following location (create the keys if they aren't there): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Azure Connected Machine Agent\ArcESU name it Enabled, and give it a value of 1. Close the registry, and run a scan, it should find updates right away with no reboot needed. I couldn't get this working on client x64 8.1 tho.
