I think it is related to the certificate.

Don't know specifics of "why not on 2nd computer?" BUT I found the page where you & FuzzleSnuz can manually download & install MSE & Windows Defender updates. Read my message #7644 on page 383. I just used it 2 days ago & works great. Good luck.

There is even a more basic way. where you take the unpacked, raw update files and place it into a specific Defender directory. This can be automated.
Defender will install the files from this directory automatically. When that's done, the directory is empty, again. Note that there won't be a message of any kind.

The two I was helping are not using Defender. They are both still using MSE. Both updates can be downloaded from the MS page link I provided. Thanks.

MSE/MSSE = Defender. Was just renamed later. Used that method even on SCEP (System Center Endpoint Protection), higher version of MSE.

Not speaking of the old Defender, which was even more crappy.

Maybe. But MS updates Defender & MSE separately. MSE was strictly Win7 protection & ended service when Win7 did. They are NOT the same via MS. Defender will continue to be updated completely while only the malware definitions continue to be updated for SSE through 2023. You are probably not interested in MS links where these details are confirmed. They are included in my comment on page 382 to FuzzleSnuz. I do agree there are much better AVs available.
