newbie here I've search all form for a bios mod for dell c840 A13 BIOS SO I MAY RUN WIN 7 COULD ANYONE HELP? Thankyou tqhoang you are correct concerning drivers for 3COM had no luck with finding drivers for device. so i guess it's a wash to operating win 7 on this laptop. i don't have confidence to perform task above I've only been on this site which is awesome for 2 days. My idea with hopes with bios mod will allow device drivers to load such as 3com so on. reading now it solve product key issuse. thx for your time once again this laptop is older but it work well for me i've upgrade to pc2700 along with 2.6 cpu finally with large hard drive which i've done myself. homework you gave above i would love to do however i think i will be over my head. bad student dave cruz chg,illinois

just got file thx some reason my pm's are not going through. i might have found a solution for 3com from a dell 2100 inspiron for vista i'm going to see if it will load for win 7 when google 3com driver form comes up with sucess 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 PCI NIC/3C905C if i read right i'm 45 years old lol not as sharp. lol

Make sure you're flashing the BIOS from a real DOS boot disk. You can make a DOS boot floppy using the "driver-free" one from bootdisk.com. After you make the floppy, copy the SLIC BIOS to the floppy, then reboot and flash.
HI tqhoanq got your last reply i have no floppy drive on this laptop 1 dvd 1 cdrom so i have to find other way to boot bios file hope your day is well I'll let you know when i figure out other way dave
thx i order dell floppy from flee bay for 5.00 including shipping i should have one just for backup drive. where would i find flash program generator autoexe. bat for my motherboard bios?
What do you mean you have bought a floppy drive ? if so that may not be practical some bioses are larger that size of floppy disk, that is why i mentioned use bootable usb thumbdrive or cd.
Got your file thx so much you would laugh if i told you how much time i spent trying to complete bois flash when it boot to a prompt what comand should i enter to flash? I"ve enter at a prompt c840slic exe in caps then i got a loading.... then after a minute or so cameup c840slic usage then went back to a prompt was this done correct?
Do not give the file any arguments. Only type either "C840SLIC" or "C840SLIC.EXE" (without the quotes). I think you might have been typing the "period" as another character and it thinks you were trying to pass it arguments on the command-line. BTW, no payment is allowed here...it's all pro bono.
Yes yes yes....... Lol finally enter only c840slic pressed enter bios flash screen appeared then ask to perform enter y then it complete lol yes.... I was doing what you said wrong thx soo much friend you are awesome mabe you can post mod to help others with c840 mod it's a older laptop but i never had any problems with it and it still looks like new thx brother so if i bother you alot
