I actually feel the same towards 21H1 Enterprise, despise not being a LTSC release I feel I could use it for years and years. Most stable 10 release for me yet.
Whe have heard that with every LTSB/C release, when 2015 LTSB was released (5+5 years support), it was the greatest, the best, when 2016 LTSB was released (5+5 years support), just one year later, all wanted to install it because it was the best ever and next 2019 LTSC was released (5+5 years support), 3 years later, all wanted to run that one, because.... it was the best ever
can't wait for 2021 LTSC. Hurry up MS. I'm rolling back from 11 for about a year once LTSC 2021 comes out.
Yeah but the next LTSC in 2025 is going to be based on Windows 11. Just like Windows 10 many users won't be very thrilled to upgrade to Windows 11 considering it's special system requirements. There are still zillions of computers running Windows 7. Given their preference, including me, Windows 10 based LTSC is far more preferable.
The point was, no matter how good it is labeld or how long term it's supported, most will upgrade to the new one as soon as it's released anyway.
I concur though my point was that that next one is going to be based on Windows 11, the enthusiasm from the previous releases won't be carried over.
LTSC lacks everything that would make it a real win 10, who says the next one in 3 years won't be the same with 11? And believe me, most will upgrade anyway.
And what exactly does it lack? It runs everything I've thrown at it including the latest games that need the latest DX12 to "run". Not to mention Steam VR stuff works, video / photo editing etc etc. The only thing LTSC lacks to make it a "real win 10" is the M$ bloatware.
And that would be it, the only thing left would be the centered start menu and poor rightclick context menus, so the next LTSC (in 3 years can be the same as it now is compare to the normal non Enterprise LTSC). I only say, from years of observation, most will upgrade/move to the latest one anyway.
The 2021 LTSC is different in that SAC users will also be stuck on the same build as the LTSC people for many years. Because of the hardware requirements for WIndows 11 many people will be on the same build as LTSC guys and there will need to be continued support for it from software devs for some time.
