just as a another poster said, this is still unconfirmed, but even if they were to drop support then we'll still have pale moon, firefox ESR, k-meleon, etc etc. thankfully we have a lot of options.
I think most issues are quite overrated. So many games have windows 7 unoficially running natively or fixes exist for them. Security-wise it's mostly dangerous on companies without a wall protecting the network. Browsers are quite a thing, but firefox will likely stay for a while and projects like pale moon are improving their compatibility to the internet significantly for the last months.
According to what I read earlier this morning, Microsoft won't be extending ESU updates beyond January 2023. Now it's a matter of waiting until February 2023 "patch Tuesday" to see which Windows 7 updates (if any) are released and posted.
There's still Embedded. Dunno if their updates have been leaked yet but Embedded will be supported until at least Oct 2024
I think Microsoft learned from XP in essentially making a "turn on 5 years worth of updates" switch. That's not to say it's impossible, Vista has a patch to get Windows Server 2008 ESU updates through WU.
ESU-1/2/3/4/5/6 - Years extended support. From January 2020 you can count 6 years or you need a calculator ..)
