Upgrade ACPI 1.0 to 2.0 for PowerNow?

I've got two working Arima HDAMB boards with dual Opteron 244 1.8GHz and 248 2.2GHz, and I used Phoenix BIOS Editor (PBE) to insert a Dell SLIC 2.1 successfully. Recently I purchased four dual-core 280's but the BIOS lacks ACPI 2.0 support (which is required for PowerNow support). Without the PowerNow support, these Opterons are going to heat my house. :(

Now onto my questions regarding using the BIOS of a very similar motherboard, the Tyan Tiger K8W S2875 with an AMI BIOS.
    http://www.tyan.com/support_download_bios.aspx?model=S.S2875

    1. Is it possible to force a flash to overwrite the Arima's entire BIOS chip (including bootblock) with the Tyan's AMI BIOS?...both are 4Mbit flash chips.

    2. I haven't compared the brands of the flash chips used in both boards, but are the pin-outs of 4Mbit flash chips the same? Would I be better off trying to get a Tyan flash chip from here?

    3. Am I crazy for even thinking about this?

Ok, I think I'm going to try buying a backup 4Mbit BIOS from eBay and ask that it be flashed with my hacked Tyan Tiger K8W S2875 BIOS.
    - Replace Silicon Image 3114 ROM with Promise PDC20378 ROM
    - Replace Intel PXE ROM's with Broadcom PXE ROM's

My only issue is that the original Arima HDAMB 2.03 BIOS has two Broadcom PXE ROM's. One is a 6.x.x series which seems to correspond to the 5788 line of adapters and the other is the 7.x.x (which is the one that loads now for the 5705 built-in LOM adapter).

    Questions:
    1. Any danger if I just delete the two Intel PXE ROM's and only add back the one Broadcom PXE ROM that I need (using MMTool)?

    2. If I am successful in booting the Arima HDAMB board with the hacked Tyan Tiger K8W BIOS, anyone know if I could do future BIOS flashes using the Tyan AFUDOS flash tool? Basically will my Arima HDAMB motherboard now *look* like a Tyan K8W to the BIOS flash util?

Don't risk it unless you have spare bios chips.

Remember that you can hot flash any rom with flashrom, which is a linux flasher. It can work with a bootable usb of FreeDos.
