put svctag.exe on the same bootable usb with asset.com since bootable DOS doesn't read NTFS filesystem, or try the Asset commands I mentioned earlier

I used Yen's mod instead with a newer version of Award Flash and it worked

You get it. I have 2 D610. One is old and damaged (without keyboard and CD-ROM) and an other is OK. So I tried to flash my old D610 with mod from post 2008 and fail. So I bricked one and I am not ready to brick an other one.
As far as I understand D610WN09.EXE is windows flasher. So I flashed from Windwos with administrator rights. Flasher asked for reboot and started flashing after post (white and grey screen). It flashed just 15-20 second and power off. I guess it's not enough to flash new BIOS but enough for erasing flash.
Eventually I power on just for 3 second and power off.
I am going to restore my old D610 (if it possible) and will try new mod.

Flashed Inspiron 1525 with SLIC 2.0 with latest A17 BIOS from dell and then overwrote with modded version A17 from the list on page 1.

SLIC 2.1 now resident as reported by SLIC Toolkit v3.0

OEM Vista as supplied by Dell still activated - now for Windows 7!
    Works well. No issues.

    Thanks to the modder!

Does anyone know if the Dell Inspiron 14 Bios A05 (1440) includes the proper SLIC (2.1)?

I have also flashed the bios from my Inspiron 1525 a few weeks ago to the modded ver. A16. Everything went well, i used a Dell win7 pro dvd and activation was ok after install. Thank you modders for the great work!

Ps i see ver a17 is also available now, but while everything works fine is there a reason to update my bios?
