Been so many years after this post, but by any chance if I can get some help in here it would be great. So already did all of this stuff, the only problem is that the system is running for hours with high speed fan but nothing happens, any idea?
But what happens if it has been running at max speed for hours? Will it then work normally or it will never work normally?
No, unfortunately still running at max speed and it gets pretty darn hot. Just to add, i also used the Cmos battery removal method which didn't work.
You can try to unplug the fan and then place it back. If that doesn't work, there's probably a problem with the fan control system. There is a three-wire plug, the maximum supply voltage is 5V, it has to change, the usual setting is that the max fan speed is 1700-1800 rpm. You can also mesure the voltage, but it it doesn't say nothing more, than You can see what it is. Unless you notice something special there, probably the problem is electronic, but are you still confident that you have everything correct with the BIOS and its settings settings. I'm on a Dell Vostro 1015 right now and mostly the fan is down, only rarely running for a second or some seconds.
PS. I forgot to ask if this fan and the radiator in front of it are still clean? It is very important. Maybe it's thickly filled with dust and fat. How often do you clean them and when was the last time you cleaned them?
Even after leaving the laptop in recovery mode as had been suggested by "IT Kolmnurk", as long as 4 to 5 hours, nothing got fixed. the bios is still bricked and after pressing the power bottom well nothing comes up except the leds error which is caused by bricked bios.
So at this point, I have tried different methods to unbrick it but still nothing. i need help to recover the bios. If you know anyone who may also help out on this situation please don't hesitate to add them to this conversation. I highly appreciate you all
@amirm Sad. Then there is probably a problem with the processor or motherboard. What are the other options? You can remove the processor and see if its connections are OK. It may happen that only taking out and putting it back in will help. If you have a motherboard problem, you even know what helps. Of course, it is possible to power the cooling motor separately, somewhere around 2.5-3.5 volts. (Max is 5V, but it is too much to run all the time) Then it will not run at full power but at the same time will work all the time and probably won't get hot. PS. If you take out the processor, you will probably need to stock up on new silicone paste first. You need a few grams, but it is needed and the old one has probably dried up and cannot be put back.
Every thing was working just fine, I upgraded the hardwares, just put a new motherboard on that. I could have even play GTA IV with that, no problem at all. Until i made 1 big mistake, decided to upgrade the bios in which stock in the middle of processing for hours and never turned boot again, just and old fashion black screen with the leds on and blinking on the left one which according to the Dell website change the mother board, yeah it's easy for them to say selling more god damn product, oh I can say a lot about them but... Still those won't solve this, Ah Been Weeks try to fix this but it literally is driving me insane..... Maybe I just should take a break from this... I don't know, Look if anyone got any idea go head, shoot
Hi All, My Dell Vostro 1520 running Win10 x64. Bluetooth wasn't working after OS upgrade from Win7. While searching drivers for Bluetooth, I also tried updating BIOS. But it stuck midway. From that moment onwards I have nevee got a chance to get back into the machine. At boot, no display. Of the 3 indicators first one is blinking other two are steady. No logo screen. Trying to install BIOS through Phoenix but it's not happening. Left shift key held and powering ON is not yielding any luck although during this time, Fan is louder and all indicators are OFF (unlike the normal boot). Help!
Hi.. Thank you for this information. I am in this situation currently. To follow your steps, the link you have provided in step 1 is now expired and they have removed it. Can you please add the files again and share the new link?
If this suddenly started happening then it really points to a problem with your hardware. It was good that you tried a Linux boot disk to cross check, but that indicates a problem with your hardware also. Did anyone happen to spill liquid on top of the keyboard? I've never heard of a keyboard just dying from typical usage.
