why did'nt you google it ? there is plenty of proof showing it's crapware, I suggest that next time you search by yourself before posting
i enjoy using Comodo Internet Security Premium ( its free with alot of the features that most paid ones have.)
I have used MSE/Windows Defender in 8/8.1 from 2010 and find it completely adequate. Find avast free to be better but why bother. I have a licence for KIS but do not use it because I find it complex and painful at default settings.
OP's machine could use more ram for today's AV. And if the CPU is single core, that's a real AV performance throttler.
I for one just use avast free anti virus have done for a good few years but to be honest I don't know why this thread was started a search on the forum would have shown we have had this discussion before and even before that
+1 I am using AVAST as well (also on Android). Free and reliable and does not slow down performance. I used AVG before, but it affects system performance. Boot speed and ready time of Power LAN (PLC). Norton antivirus is the worst I have tried. Huge and performance wasting.
Same here have used Avast free antivirus for years, I did at one time use symantec antivirus corporate but moved away from it due to the fact you had to install x86 and x64 bit versions were as with avast one version installs on both architectures.
trying currently ESS 7, light on ressources, no boot time added, stable as should be, had Avast IS paid version: quite reliable too, same as ESS 7, bad experience with AVG which is a ressource killer, cut down ethernet speed by 3(2 devolos), thinking of trying KIS next.
imo BDTS contains too much "sub" programs that are not related to antivirus and firewall, compared to BIS I'd call it bloatware because it sells you apps you can get for free, such as CCleaner to name one...
