So you're referring to this particular thread, which clearly has the "DISCUSSION" tag mentioned in the header? Even though the auto-converted URL in the first post was not working (it has now been corrected BTW, thanks for pointing out), it does mention that "This thread is for discussion, as explained in the main forum rules thread," isn't it? Anyone familiar with bulletin boards or internet forums can then naviagte back and try to spot the "main thread." When it comes to searching, forum CMS offerings are notorious for their unreliable and poor implementations. With that said, it is quite easy to narrow down the results by changing a few parameters (e.g. ticking " Search titles only"). Then there is Google custom search, but I'm not even considering it. You do know that there's a style chooser, right? Regarding the font size, It is virtually impossible to satisfy everyone's custom choice, so we have to settle somewhere. You can, however, write your own userscript to modfy every little aspect of the UI. Well, this is not an autocracy. If you really want to terminate your account, there is a sticky thread for this purpose under the Suggestions and Feedback sub-forum. Submit a formal request there and our team will take care of it. Regards.
This is a very old thread started by reginakampher, one of the first MDL staff member. AFAIK she even was MDL staff before I had joined the team. The purpose of this thread had been to find appropriate MDL rules at all. For some reasons the thread had never been closed after the MDL rules have been completed. Forum rules actually are not for discussion. The same applies to national rules / laws for example. One cannot discuss with a judge!!! Each nation has different laws and rules, especially how to handle certain social aspects. (Which punishment for which rule violation and if something is permitted or prohibited at all. At some nations you can do certain things, at others, though, you get punished for the very same....) The intention to pass rules / laws is to have social matters within the community regulated at best. But there is no universal idea of a rule set. One complies and accepts the rule set (of a forum) by registering. This set of rules varies from site to site, but that does not matter. What matters is that a member -once registered- declares to follow the rules and to accept the staff as an (judicial) authority. This is at every forum the same. If there should be questions about whether or not a rule applies to a certain concern the right way is to PM a staff member.
