It's not just the performance. Don't forget software patching is just a palliative. There's still need of a new processor design.
That has nothing to do with the car comparison. As Yen said, the new cpu design, which is needed, won't be done in the near future.
why not? o.k. so my cpu won't kill me but I had a very similar issue with the rear tail light assy. on my '03 trailblazer, and after finding the recall notice GM did replace that (bulb would burn out on right side after several weeks) Is their is any reason that any manufacture should not be held responsible for any defects they create?
In general you can ground with Spectre All Airlines Flights. Also with this present patch too! This is something we never had before.
The discussion i was in with @Joe C was about getting a refund/replacement cpu, like with car callbacks
And that PCs might involve human lives too! I really not care if I lose 5, 10, 20% perfomance at home. But there are sensitive places where you just can not do patch. Like in airline industry. I really have no idea what they will do. With intel. To change them all processors. Like tires on cars? With which processor model? If it was easy for them to know how to do it, they would've done it six years ago in the past.
I just saw Spectre CVE-2017-5753 PoC for Android/ARM64 at github. They are further improving Spectre source code there . Terrifying.
