Even if this may be a solid improvement to the original Edge, it's just like any other Chromium-based browser. Then again, I'm not a fan of Chromium or the Blink engine anyway.
There was already an official release. Canary versions are still being released. But fonts from the beginning builds in several languages and browser scaling are broken. Specific letter for languages: polish, czech and other are to bigger when zoom browser is set to default 100%

hmm AV in addition to not protecting effectively yet messes up other applications, that's why I haven't used any for over 20 years and never had any problems ...
1. checked the permission in C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge Beta and is OK (granted full as it should be) 2. Not have any malware (checked with Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro and MarwareBytes Anti Rootkit)
Imo there is no need for a portable version at all. I'll stay with that one from the MS site. Oh, by the way: Version 81.0.400.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)
