Patch Tuesday was last Tuesday (second Tuesday of the month), however MS has released out-of-band updates in the past, which may be released at any time. And my issue was that my external HDD occasionally made a constant disconnecting sound.
Oh yes, you're right! It was indeed last tuesday. About the HDD disconnect sound... I've never experienced it, but I will be on the lookout! Thanks
@ ivankehayov Unfortunately my router hasn't got an USB Port , and even if, it's located in the 'wrong' room. Anyhow, thanks for your work on this Image and the quick response...
Sorry, I can't agree. Over last 3 years I always use my "lited" 2015 and 2016 LTSB Windows editions on my PCs as main OS and I've installed it on many others as well with no major issues. Of course, I spent many and many hours to "crop" Windows to my liking, doing a lot of tests in VM and physical PCs, but at the end I'm satisfied - faster load, faster operation and less space occupied. PS: I "push" nobody to use chopped Windows. I have been using my releases because I made them perfect for my needs but probably not yours . So test and decide yourself!
Windows XP right through to Windows 7 had very popular modded "chopped" releases and they mostly worked very well. As performance gains reduced they went out of fashion but at this time as Windows 10 grows and grows and is full of useless bling perhaps the modders will return. Looking at TPB I see V4 of your LTSB is by far the most popular, is that the least "chopped" release?
@ ivankehayov I agree with you.I use your latest ltsb version on my second PC and I must say that I have no problem for what I need.I hope you will release a slim ltsc version too.Thank you for your work so far!
100% agree. Disk space is cheap, and unless running on ancient hardware the hassles outweigh any benefits. There's a good reason "home brewed" ISO's are frowned upon here.
It doesn't give any performance increasement when things get chopped out, low ram usage when idle doesn't mean faster running, but people are free to think/do what they want.
In regards to your first question: Yes, so long as it's selected to be removed. And I have no idea what you're referring to with a "3rd party virus program," as the script applies exactly zero 3rd party programs of any sort to the image. Optimize-Offline is its own automated script and has no comparison to MSMG.
If I apply the Optimize-Offline script to the iso, then install and copy over my group policy backup, would it interfere too much with the script settings? I see the script changes many registry entries, does group policy override registry values? I would like to have the group policy apply, but any settings i have missed would be taken care of by script registry?
This iso has bugs from the main 1809 base. I think it will be updated with a cumulative very soon, as MS had originally planned to release this as the October update. However, they could always postpone it for another month. RIP money spent on marketing the "October Update" if that happens.
Thanks and got it all sorted out. It works quite well but will stay with the 2016 version for now as seems the new version isn't totally finished yet
Group Policy is the primary component used to manage the registry hives, so any GPO setting that is not set to its default of "Not Configured" will be re-applied in the registry.
Never selected windows defender removal, your script removal list does not seem to have it listed. Does it wipe it out with no interaction? No one said you install 3rd party virus programs read more carefully. You are right there is no comparison to MSMG and some can set there group policies at first boot. Not to sure why you are trolling this in this thread to be honest why not open your own thread for this? Regards
