Well short of doing some extremely weird stuff to the boot wim, I'm out of ideas. In retrospect it makes sense that the wpeinit didn't work, since it seems to call it just before reading the indexes
If you had applied Windows 8.1 Update KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2937592 for boot.wim index 2, then you will get this error. and also if you mix the newer version of windows 8.1 setup dvd boot folder, bootmgr and setup.exe with a older version of boot.wim then also you will get these kind of errors sometimes even it says os is corrupted please restore...
why is everyone so concerned about adding the updates to more than 1 wim file? I made my own activated image with the updates, using install.wim only, never had 1 little problem ever, so I'm confused
So you're saying to integrate it only with index 1, the setup index; not the boot index? Hmm... I guess that makes sense, but seems kind-of silly... I did run into weird errors updating 8.0 to 8.1 without it tho... so you may be onto something... Well this sh** is really gonna take a long time to integrate all these winre.wim and boot.wim index 1s and re-test everything... I'll have to write up a script to do that stuff while I'm at my kid's function this afternoon.
yeah but really who cares if someone is trying to make an iso to get out to people quickly, do it the way that always works, get it done , move on, sorry just my rant, LOL......don't hate me
Well apparently if you upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 s2014 without having those fixes in there, your system will have problems. I've already seen this first-hand. Both x86 and x64 upgraded versions were going haywire on the sfc scan So for boot installs, not important... For upgrades, important. I suspect that people may run into issues sometimes with the refresh as well if they don't update the winre.wim Nothing major for most people, but for some users who actually have important data on their systems that they cannot afford to lose, it can make a big difference.
Apply KB2919442 to Boot.wim Index 1, 2 / Winre.wim Index 1 Apply KB2919355 to Boot.wim Index 1 / Winre.wim Index 1 Apply KB2932046 to Boot.wim Index 1 / Winre.wim Index 1 Apply KB2937592 to Boot.wim Index 1 / Winre.wim Index 1 Apply KB2939087 to Boot.wim Index 1, 2 / Winre.wim Index 1 Apply KB2938439 to Boot.wim Index 1 / Winre.wim Index 1 The setup boots and installs smoothly without any errors. i will check about the /resetbase tomorrow and let you know.
sorry, i had a problem. I'm running win 8 pro. And when i run update, this happened: "the update is not applicable to your computer". I'm searching on google but this still come. Please help.
so can someone confirm this statement: you can only upgrade to 8.1.1 from 8.1, it will not work correctly if you try and go directly from 8.0 to 8.1.1 with 8.1.1, I meant an iso created with the spring update of course
Thanks to this great community I have successfully updated my tablet. There's just a minor issue: the power button in the start screen is missing. Any idea? Thanks in advance
So many posts and pages, I apologize if this was asked already. So I downloaded the x64 from MEGA ( provided by Hell Tourist on post 814) 770 megs. Now to install on windows 8.1 x64, just install KB2919442, reboot if required. then finish installing each of the other 5 kbs?s one by one, rebooting, and be done with it?
