March Server 2019 with GUI I had issue with uploading to ftp. Speeds were amazingly slow. Posted results to MS Server forum. Looks like MS took note because MSDN Aug addition problem is resolved.

Need a little help here. I have read all 35 pages and still somewhat confused. I presently have windows home server 2011. Only using it as a media server. Nothing else fancy. I have read on other sites that server essentials 2019 is bascally what I need to update home server. I have downloaded 17763.379.190312-0539.rs5_release_svc_refresh_SERVERESSENTIALS_OEM_x64FRE_en-us.iso from this thread but I am not sure what esle I need to do with it. Is it an eval etc...Does this iso need to be converted using dism? And if so, how can I convert it to the same edition? I know I can use kms to activate it. Any help to steer me in the right direction is aprreciated. Thanks.
Hi all I'm trying to convert an EVAL Server 2019 to VL Server 2019 Data centre using the advice featured here: Open Windows Server 2019 ISO image Create a directory called mount Copy install.wim from Windows Server 2019 to c:\mount Create a directory called mount1 run this command - dism.exe /mount-wim /wimfile:c:\mount\install.wim /index:4 /mountdir:c:\mount1 Once the operation completed successfully - do the following run this command - dism.exe /image:"c:\mount1" /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter Once the operation completed successfully - do the following dism.exe /unmount-wim /mountdir:c:\mount1 /commit Now I must be missing something, because now my recreated ISO won't boot (under HyperV). With the following instruction: "Copy install.wim from Windows Server 2019 to c:\mount" - I simply copied the install.wim file from the mounted ISO \sources directory. Is this correct? Once I've performed the above instructions, should I remove the \sources\install.wim file prior to recreating the ISO? Should I also remove the \mount and \mount1 directories? I assume this is where I'm getting lost. Assuming somebody can help me get the recreated ISO booting, I assume it is possible to just run KMS_VL_ALL from within the functioning OS in order to activate the software? Thanks in anticipation!
@poofchops Are you using the original Eval ISO? 17763.1.180914-1434.rs5_release_SERVER_EVAL_X64FRE_EN-US.iso it might be easier to convert the iso to retail iso using svf patch or you can convert after installation https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...s-server-2019-build-17763.78021/#post-1465948
Hi abbodi Thanks for your help. For your information, I downloaded the following file from the official MS site: 17763.379.190312-0539.rs5_release_svc_refresh_SERVER_EVAL_x64FRE_en-us Thanks to your help, I managed to install the untouched ISO and then perform the EVAL to VL modification after installation. Not sure why the pre-installation conversion didn't work - everything looked fine using the supplied commands. It looked like a complete success - it just wouldn't boot. Anyway, I'm up and running now. Thanks so much for your help!!
Hi again I created first with WinRAR. When that didn't work, I used Folder2ISO. Neither worked I downloaded the MS ISO link another time (in case it was corrupted) and tried creating the ISO multiple times without success.
Bootable ISO require more than that either use 3rd party iso manager (UltraISO, PowerISO..) and replace install.wim and save as new ISO or use Microsoft command line tool OSCDIMG to create the new ISO, but that is long explanation
Ok thanks again for your help So if I were to perform the DISM commands (as specified in my previous post) and then relocate the install.wim file from \mount directory to the \sources directory and then use a 3rd party iso manager to create an ISO it should work? Is this correct?
Looks like, unlike with march 2019 update, the server 2019 essentials did not get an update. Only the Server standard, datacenter and 1903 have the august 2019 update.
if your in the insider program testing server dont MS gives u a HW activation on server standard or essentials? i notice in server any little change kills the KMS all activation....are their any working keys out their?
