There were quite a few people who suffered from permanent eye damage because they looked at the eclipse without proper eye protection. Sad for them.
I've extended the thread title. Solar eclipses happen more often than one might think. Especially when you count the partial and marine as well. It seems people do not learn or underestimate the sunlight....when it hurts its already too late. This applies especially when you try to make photos with a big tele on it!
