I have not seen this issue either, Installed Windows 10 Insider Preview 17134.1 in VMWare in fact seems stable and smooth.
I guess it works for some and does not for others, luckily, I do not really need it, yet. I hope it will be fixed in RTM though.
I manually disable background apps in gpedit.msc and only add the package name as allowed for the Gaming Overlay so I can use the Game Bar Game Mode. I've posted a few times how to exactly do it.
The normal way started working in 17133 a couple of days before it was meant to go GA. I had to use DISM early in its release and then was able to use the regular "Add Features" method on a clean install a few days before its intended GA. From what I can gather from my own experiences with the past few insider builds, at this point in the insider process Microsoft don't update which current build of Windows can pull features etc. from its servers until a build is about to go GA.
I just don't want ALL of them disabled. I want to have control over what's enabled and disabled. And yes, I use many Store apps and I stand proud of it. LOL
Yes, I'm toggling background apps off in that switch. It doesn't come back on after a reboot (with and without fast boot) on multiple users under three 17133.x installations. All were upgraded from 16299, not clean installs.
So I been gone for sometime, what did I miss? Did the official build for 2018 spring get thrown of Microsoft view and now replacing it with this fast ring one? When will this fast ring be official for launch? I downloaded 17133.1 and I don't want to install it knowing I am a non official build. If I install the older one can't it just pull me to a newer build through windows update? I do not want to have to clean install twice in a month!!!
Then just wait for the new version for come out over Windows Update. I vote for a 5/5 release, Windows 10 Cinco de Mayo Update The laggy keyboard input, yeah we saw it in testing but nobody sees any bug.. under the bar stool... The drunk email detector tho? Yeah, THAT one we totally added last minute.
You really don't understand how things work do you ? Before 17134.1 could be considered for RTM, it has to pass thru the Fast Ring, Slow Ring, Release Preview then make it all the way thru the Sign-Off Process.
You mentioned it few times already. I am on .73 without any special issues other than those widely known for 17133, which for me are annoyances at most, but not show stoppers.
I have just noticed a bug here. in settings, apps and features, default apps, at the bottom, when i try to set defaults by app, the window just closes. when i try from old control panel, it sends me back to settings. anyone else see this ?
What could come the end of this week ? 17134 has a serious Bug that may need a New Build to fix. For those affected the issue appears reproducible, by starting Settings, navigate to Apps > Default apps > Set defaults by app and click on on “Set defaults by app.” At this point, if you are affected, the Settings app will crash. This is being reported in both Home & Pro, and 32bit & 64bit. This is just 1 Bug that has been found in 17134.1
